Georgia has got to stop getting all these freaking penalties. They're well on their way to being the most penalized FBS team in the country. It's all false starts and personal fouls that are absolutely ridiculous. Five 15 yard penalties today.

Cal has had over the years some of the sickest running backs. I've seen the guy play and if Cal get actually get it together one of these seasons and be consistent, he is going to help lead the charge.

I've got a lot of confidence in Forcier going forward. The talent is clearly there, he just needs some more experience to help with his decision making. The shuffling of Robinson and Forcier seemed random, and that doesn't help either QB really succeed.
Today's game was pretty much a microcosm of the whole season. Michigan did some good things, but made a lot of mistakes. Forcier really needs to work on ball security. Some credit goes to the Ohio State defense, but you don't turn the ball over five times without some unforced errors. It was a complete disaster of a season, really unpleasant to watch. Watching their games was a very frustrating experience.

Not the upset of the century (like if San Jose State or Idaho or someone like that beat Florida). Just a win.

It's hard to argue against undefeated versus an SEC slate.
2 – Florida (11-0)

3 – Texas Christian (11-0)
Handled Wyoming in Laramie far more easily than Texas did, which was one of their goals. Clearly, right now, they're the better team, and should be playing the Alabama/Florida winner for the BCS title over UT. Frankly, at this point, even an 11-1 TCU should get a BCS bowl bid over an undefeated Boise. They've just done far more.
4– Texas (11-0)
That victory over Oklahoma no longer qualifies as a quality win. The Sooners are an average team.
5 – Cincinnati (10-0)
Does anyone believe Brian Kelly isn't headed to Notre Dame?
6 – Georgia Tech (10-1)
OK ... Auburn beats 'Bama ... 'Bama beats Florida ... Nebraska beats Texas ... Pitt beats Cincinnati ... Nevada beats Boise State ... and it's Texas Christian vs. Georgia Tech for the national title!
7 – Boise State (11-0)
Nevada, at 8-3, is not the same team that opened with a trio of defeats. I think the Wolfpack have a real shot to beat BSU.
8 – Oregon (9-2)
That was, on reflection, an enormous win.
9 – Pittsburgh (9-1)
Well, if they defeat Cincinnati and West Virginia, I'm convinced ... and so should you be.
10 – Ohio State (10-2)
Whoever wins the Pac-10 is going to lay wood to them in the Rose Bowl.
11 – Iowa (10-2)
This is still a terrific season ... and if they don't lose their starting quarterback, they're almost certainly 12-0.
12 – Mississippi (8-3)
This is the team everyone thought they'd be when the season began.
13 – Oklahoma State (9-2)
Actually showed me a little something not mailing it in against Colorado even down their starting quarterback and star receiver. Good on you, Cowboys; your stock's gone up a bit with me.
14 – Louisiana State (8-3)
Be honest: Have you ever seen someone manage a clock so incompetently as Les Miles? Hey, Les: These are kids, man. You tell them what to do. It's called coaching.
15 – North Carolina (8-3)
Quietly, they've built a really impressive resume.
16 – Penn State (10-2)
Strangely enough, now the Northwestern win looks pretty good, too. Who'd have ever thought the Lions would boast of defeating the Wildcats and Temple Owls?
17 – Brigham Young (9-2)
Should the BYU/Utah winner be at least considered for a BCS bowl? As much as Iowa or Penn State, yeah. Of course, it's not gonna happen.
18 – Oregon State (8-3)
If you conduct business in the state of Oregon, don't bother trying to do so until after the Civil War. Holy cow! It's the Ducks versus the Beavers for a trip to Pasadena!
19 – Virginia Tech (8-3)
Can't quite forget how 'Bama laid wood to 'em.

Anyone notice how the Tigers have quietly avoided both Virginia Tech and North Carolina this year? I don't imagine they'd be playing in the ACC title game if the schedule gods had been less magnanimous.

They could be awesome—like, national championship contender awesome—next year.
22 – Nebraska (8-3)
I'm not quite confident enough to call for the upset, but ... I think they have a real chance against Texas in the Big 12 title game.

Rutgers watch: The Knights drop out of the Top Twenty-Five after deciding that attendance would be sufficient to beat Syracuse up in the Carrier Dome. The Orange were layin' for 'em, and whupped RU soundly. Tom Savage, for the first time, played like a freshman, and the Knights managed a whopping 150 or so yards of total offense in a 31-13 loss. Pathetic.

Doubtful? Well, cheer up. It appears the Trojans will be playing closer to home than I figured last night. After reviewing the standings this morning I found the USC is actually in fourth place, which earns them a trip to the Las Vegas Bowl or the Emerald Bowl.
Seriously though, I feel your pain. In 2007 the Ducks were ranked #2 in the nation before Dennis Dixon went down for the season in Arizona and we ended up in the Sun Bowl. It really sucks to have high hopes and then end up watching the unthinkable unfold in front of you.

Can you explain to me how teams are selected for Bowl games? I understand how the conference championship games are picked, but why would USC go to the Emerald Bowl instead of the Sun Bowl or vice-versa?
