JM's Top Twenty-Five, Week Ending November 14th, 2010
1 – Oregon (10-0)
They win even when the offense doesn't show.
2 – Auburn (11-0)
That onside kick won the game.
3 – Boise State (9-0)
If only Nevada hadn't stumbled, this upcoming tilt would be huge instead of just big.
4 – Texas Christian (11-0)
All this means is that San Diego State is quite a bit better than anyone thought.
5 – Louisiana State (9-1)
If Auburn, Oregon and either Boise or TCU lose, I think the Tigers slip into the national championship game over Stanford and Wisconsin.
6 – Wisconsin (9-1)
I would never have imagined they'd still be a national championship threat at this point in the season.
7 – Stanford (9-1)
Those geeks play some pretty physical football.
8 – Michigan State (9-1)
A great season is marred by that beatdown they suffered against Iowa.
9 – Nebraska (9-1)
The loss is to now 4-6 Texas. That's just unsightly, and it rightly drags them down a bit.
10 – Oklahoma State (9-1)
Would the Big 12 champ have an argument? More important, would this Big 12 champ have one?
11 – Ohio State (9-1)
The marquee win is still those inconsistent 'Canes. Can't see elevating them over most of the other one-loss teams.
12 – Alabama (8-2)
Though I think the Tide would whip Ohio State, the Buckeyes have proven me wrong often enough that I won't diss them by dropping 'em below a two-loss team.
13 – Arkansas (8-2)
Wow, the SEC is tough again this year.
14 – Virginia Tech (8-2)
And the resurgence continues—to Boise State's delight. They may well be top five before all the smoke clears.
15 – Missouri (8-2)
Out of the tailspin.
16 – Oklahoma (8-2)
I would love to see them eviscerated in Stillwater.
17 – Nevada (9-1)
Fresno State's a quality win ... but not enough to push them into the top fifteen.
18 – South Carolina (7-3)
Despite the fact that UF ain't UF this year, that win is still a huge psychological barrier overcome.
19 – Texas A&M (7-3)
Heating up as the season winds down.
20 – Northwestern (7-3)
They own the Hawkeyes.
21 – North Carolina State (7-3)
Their best win is one they never should have won.
22 – Florida State (7-3)
I'm interested to see how good they are next year.
23 – Miami, Florida (7-3)
ACC doesn't look terrible now, does it?
24 – Iowa (7-3)
[Sigh.]
25 – Utah (8-2)
Notre Dame is really better than its record, but ... this is a Hokie-like hangover.
Rutgers Watch: The Knights dropped a 13-10 decision to improving Syracuse, in yet another game they had no business losing. This team should be, at the very least, 7-2; instead, they're 4-5 and on their way both to the Big East cellar and their first non-bowl season in half a decade. Pathetic.
