Most teams start off a 1A team, but there are a couple that beat a Div II team and then lost to a couple of 1AA and are still ranked.
And somebody voted for Jackson State last week as #1 instead of Jacksonville State. Good times.

Well, I follow FCS since I graduated from an FCS school. Good win for them. I hope to see them in playoffs. That would be fun.
The rankings will probably be
1. Villanova Wildcats
2. Appalachian State Mountaineers
3. James Madison Dukes
4. Jacksonville State Gamecocks
5. Delaware Blue Hens
However, I think the FCS voters are all idiots because teams will go 1-3 and still be ranked in the top 15.
That sounds about right. The next big game is Delaware at James Madison next week. That will do a good job at showing whether they've beaten good teams or just well-ranked teams. JMU, of course, could ride off of their win against Virginia Tech, but needs to show that they can consistently play that well.
That would be a fun game to watch.

Considering what Jacksonville State's done so far this year, they have an argument as the best Gamecocks in the country, South Carolina notwithstanding.
3 last minute wins and an interception in the endzone to seal the deal yesterday. My heart really can't take it anymore. JSU's coach calls extremely stupid plays. Four straight weeks "run it up the middle" hasn't worked, yet they keep going to it. The back up quarterback is faster, more accurate, and scores most of the time he touches the ball, yet he sees few plays.
And our secondary sucks. It's all zone defense. They never manage to swat a ball away and I think they only have two interceptions all year. I don't think deserve to be ranked so high, but I'll take it. I'm hoping they get to the national championship. It's in Chattanooga, which is where I grew up.
I also look forward to going to University of Kentucky next year and Florida in 2012. Maybe we can at least stay on the field during those games.

My Cowboys are looking pathetic in the early going. Sob. 
When the opposing team is going for it on 4th and 1 on their own 27 yard line, I'd say their coach is fairly unimpressed with your defense and unafraid of your offense should it get back on the field on a takeover on downs.

As poorly as State played, we get it back to 14-7, shift momentum, then promptly give it right back by not being able to wrap up tackles on special teams and allowing A&M to get up to midfield on the ensuing kickoff return. 3 missed tackles that could have backed them up behind their own 20, but no.....and A&M scores again before the half and regains momentum.
On our home field. Truly embarrassing. They were starting to make adjustments, relaxing, but one huge kickoff return gives it all back.--EDIT--I should give up more often. It inspires my team in the second half.
Talk about making adjustments at halftime.

Being a Georgia Tech fan, I have to say I'm happy with the ones they have.
Really looking forward to this Stanford/Oregon game tomorrow night. Might be a telling sign on who wins the Pac 10 and at least goes to the Rose Bowl this year, if not National Championship.
I haven't been this pissed off about the outcome of a football game in a LONG, LONG time. LSU did not deserve to beat Tenneseee today, especially not the way it happened. The referees who called this game will never be able to set foot in Knoxville. I'm still shaking I'm so mad....!!!
This question might sound really ignorant on my part, but why was Tennesse making any changes at all. They had the defense in, but while LSU was scrambling, so was Tennessee and they got called for too many men. If they had just stood pat, LSU would not have gotten the play off and the Vols would have won. If they had gotten the play off, it's probably the same result as what actually happened. I'm sitting there watching Tennessee scramble like that and I'm thinking what are they doing.
That's a perfectly reasonable question, tomalak301. That's on the UT coaching staff. Still doesn't seem right for the refs to allow the Vols to storm the field in celebration, and THEN take it all back. What I want to know is why the referees didn't also consider the fact that, when LSU thought they had lost, several of their players threw their helmets to the ground. Unsportsmanlike conduct, anyone? Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought that would mean offsetting penalties and game over. Unless the helmet slamming never happens because of the personnel screw-up. UGH!
Jacksonville State defeats Murray State 40-34. I got to see two recovered onside kicks and a kick return for a touchdown today. Exciting.
Delaware beat James Madison on a last second field goal. So by the transitive property of wishful thinking FCS football, Delaware is now better than Virginia Tech.
