The College Football Thread

There are a few teams I root against (USC, OSU, Tennessee, Oklahoma) simply because the media loves them... and I just don't see all the fuss. They could go 0-5 and still be ranked. Tennessee to a lesser extent now, thank goodness.

But why root against that team, if the fault lies with someone else, in this case the media?

Just to see how many losses it will take to make them not considered to be the best of the best usually. Oklahoma was still ranked at 3-3 this year. No other team could have gotten away with that at 3 losses in the first six weeks.

The Rose Bowl is turning into a pretty good game, except for that last minute of the first half.

Stupid Ducks!

:scream:

Honestly.... it wasn't their fault. It was more a good game by Ohio State than anything else. Pryor had great stats and made good decisions. It was a hard, hard game... but give the Buckeyes credit for doing what was necessary against a heckuva great team.

And btw.... I believe that makes the Big 10 3-1 today, and Northwestern should have won their game but for a missed FG in regulation.

And Oregon's last Rose Bowl victory remains the 1917 game, :(

Congrats Neroon!

I have to admit... I was nervous the whole time, no matter what the score was. Even though I almost nailed the scored (contest at work, I had 27-17), I was never comfortable. Not with Masoli and Blount and James on that offense.

JM ... you tell ME who that was in Pryor's uniform! It looked like the kid we'd been hyped to about two years ago. He put it all together tonight. Now I just hope he can keep his head on straight and his feet on the ground.

Wow. I must now give props to Ohio State in my final poll.

That's gonna suck. :scream:

Nice effort from the Buckeyes, though. I didn't think they'd win this one. Hope you enjoyed the game, Neroon.

It was hell, JM!!! I honestly couldn't believe at times that it was happening, but the Buckeyes did what they needed to do. They scored early and really put the pressure on the Ducks. Even when the Ducks came back and took the lead... the defense kept coming and coming... and Pryor made play after play. That dagger of a catch by Posey was a ting of beauty.

And confession time .... this really felt good, because I was tired of some of the ragging on the Buckeyes and the Big 10. They aren't completely out of the shadow, but the Bucks and the conference took a HUGE stride today, with this and the Penn St win over LSU.

Incidentally.... it was VERY cool to see "Chief Osceola" hand over the flaming spear to Bobby Bowden for him to plant it in the turf. Nice, nice move.

Sure looked like his leg might have snapped on the last kick in overtime, but I'm not sure. Sure looked nasty when the defensive lineman slid into him. OUCH.

I heard it was really broken. My football guru dad said it really truly was, and I've been looking all over the place trying to find out if it's true. But I'm pretty sure that that Auburn player actually broke that poor boy's leg.

Man, I was looking forward to the Sugar Bowl, but it's gotten real pathetic really fast.

I can't say this blowout surprised me, because Cincinnati's defense isn't that good and Florida's defense really IS that good.... but man. :( I mean, the setting was there for a similar result to last year's Sugar Bowl. But man oh man... what a resounding performance by the Gators!

As a proud Ohio State University alumna all I can say is WAY TO GO BUCKS!!!

Warmest Wishes,
Whoa Nellie
