The College Football Thread

But Iowa's offense really doesn't want to hang on to the ball.

I think, even if they do manage pull this one out, there is no chance whatsoever that voters will let Iowa anywhere near the championship game after seeing this game.

I no longer draw much of a parallel between the Hawkeyes and the 2002 Ohio St team. Iowa is doing it more with smoke & mirrors. They're a decent team but they aren't blowing anyone out and this game has been turning more on fluke plays and bad calls.

Way to piss away that lead, Indiana. If I didn't know better I'd think I was watching an Oklahoma State Texas game from 2, 3, and 4 years ago. O-State has had some truly spectacular collapses. When you lead 35-14 going into the fourth quarter and 35-7 at the half another year and manage to piss those leads away, pissing away the 28-9 lead they had the other year didn't seem so bad.

Well, Iowa has come back to take the lead. It has to suck to be a Hoosier fan.
Yes, take it from me. It totally sucks to be a Hoosiers football fan. There were several questionable calls in this game, and I am extremely resentful toward the replay official for those touchdown reviews. IU still blew the game on their own. It's not the first time, nor will it be the last.

I remember Vince Young all too well, unfortunately. But they blew that 35-7 lead in Stillwater. That was beyond pathetic. They had the mighty Vince Young and his longhorns down by four touchdowns, then the defense just quit. No intensity. Everything they did right in half number one, they did wrong in half number two. How often do you get a 35-7 on an outstanding Texas team? Hell, they gave up four touchdowns and more to lose that game. You expect Texas to make adjustments, but that was beyond pitiful. Pitiful doesn't do that collapse justice.

If only they still had Dez to draw Texas' coverage away from the running game. But they don't. sigh

Looks like Georgia is coming back or threatening to make a game of it 31-17

The team that's rolling now is Illinois up 28-13 on Michigan and just now getting a turnover at the start of the 4th qtr

DAMMIT!! :scream: State has Texas stopped and the refs call unnecessary roughness on the defensive player for leading with his shoulder on a perfectly legit hit. Even the two announcers on tv said it was a horrible, horrible call. So Texas stays alive and gets downfield with the 15 yard penalty. :scream:

Damn, Oklahoma State is missing Dez Bryant in this game. Already a fumble by the back up receiever Anyiam--a dropped pass by Anyiam in the end zone that Bryant would have hauled in, and a dropped pass that was right on the mark by Fowkes earlier on during O-State's second drive when he had some open field. The defense is playing lights out, but that last fumble is allowing Texas to move. You can't keep giving Texas chances. We've sacked McCoy, but gave it back when Anyiam fumbled.

sigh Texas scores its first touchdown in the second quarter. 10-0 Texas. Our defense stopped them on a couple of drives, but you can't fumble it away. They will take advantage. Dez, you stupid son of a bitch. You just had to go visit Deion Sanders and lie about it. The visit to Sanders would only have cost him three games. Since he lied to the mighty NCAA, he's gone. If you're not Reggie Bush, you can't lie.

Damn, this O-State game is turning into a nightmare. Robinson is usually so spot on and he's thrown another interception that Texas ran back for a touchdown. Pitiful. I don't know what's wrong with him. His offensive line is giving him plenty of time. His line isn't the problem. He is. Down 34-7.

Of course Texas came back from 35-7 down, but Vince wasn't throwing those INTs. I don't know what's the matter with Robinson. He's a better quarterback than that. Pitiful, pitiful, pitiful. Goodbye Big 12 South, hello Alamo Bowl.

EDIT--God almighty, Robinson just threw another pick. :wtf: At least Texas didn't run this one all the way back, but the defense that was playing lights out is getting tired now. Robinson, what's the problem? You're definitely gonna be the goat of this debacle. Pitiful. O-State is a better team than this. Ah, it took Texas two plays after the INT to score this time. 41-7. Unbelievable. Robinson is really stinking it up in spectacular fashion. :wtf:

The Big Ten officiating hasn't been great. There were the TDs that they called back in the Indiana-Iowa game, which I don't think were 'indisputable video evidence' to overturn the call of TD on the field. Then during my game NU had two passes where the receiver turned and and took a few steps before dropping it and the refs ruled them incomplete rather than a fumble. It looked like they'd gained possession to me.
