The Classic/Retro Pop Culture Thread

I can't watch Doris Day movies or shows anymore because I had a really irritating boss who greatly resembled her in appearance and manner.

Bummer. Sorry to hear, but I understand. I cannot watch "Hush Hush, Sweet Charlotte" for similar reasons...related to an uncanny resemblance on the part of Olivia de Havilland, to my then Sunday School teacher...

Just watched "The Glass-Bottomed Boat". I know it's a movie, but it has been on TV about half a-zillion times!

I'll definitely put that Get Smart marathon on. I love that show. To this day, whenever I walk through automatic doors that theme plays in my head. :rommie:

I was too busy to watch much retro TV yesterday, but I did see the first half of the Six-Million Dollar Man episode with William Shatner. Shatner wants to explore space with Austin and a dolphin. Now there's a premise for a TV show.

"Captain Flipper and the Three-Million Dollar Man" (since you only saw the first half).

I was going to get "The Time Tunnel" on DVD from a used book store, but they keep the discs behind the counter, and they had somehow gotten them mixed up with a Dracula show from a few years ago. So I'm still waiting for them to call me when they find the right discs.

^^ A Dracula show from a few years ago? Do you know what it was?

^Ah, wish I'd known that was on.
Every week when I visit my Mother I go through the listings on the retro channels to find things to DVR. Mostly we do The Avengers, but I couldn't resist seeing the Shat and Lee Majors together.

And don't forget Private Kirk, the sidekick. I'd watch it. :D

So in other words, you knew about that last week and didn't think to tell us...! :p

I'll probably put that on...used to catch it a bit on Saturday mornings when I still had Me.

I'll probably put it on. I've seen it from time to time over the years, but I never watched it on a regular basis.

Loved "MeTV"...

...wonder what the viewers born in the '90s-'00s will watch as the "MeTV"- type shows, when they get older???
