I was amused to learn that, prior to its debut, a vocal contingent of fans protested its very existence, resorting to petitions, newspaper ads, fan campaigns, calls to local TV affiliates, and so on to try to get the show cancelled in advance.
"How dare they ruin STAR TREK by turning it in a Saturday morning cartoon?! We want the real STAR TREK, not a cartoon!"

I knew a little about the Lucy connection but really enjoyed the deep dive.
I hope to see ep2 in the next day or so. I'm excited for the TAS deep dive.
Then sometime later this month I'll do a free trial and marathon the last 3.

Really enjoyed the second episode! They covered the animated series so well, it was great seeing some of the behind the scenes details I’d never heard before.
In particular I found learning that NBC execs are the ones who made the call to make the character Lucien the devil in The Magicks of Megas-Tu very interesting, and I was unsurprised to learn that the episode generated hate mail from some viewers in the Bible Belt.
I’m really enjoying the series as a whole so far, and look forward to seeing the last episodes on the History Channel in the next couple weeks.

The first episode was frustrating in a lot of ways, especially factually and narrative wise. But most of all they interviewed Cash Markman... I mean Marc Cushman, who is a shoddy researcher and writer.
I despise that he's seen as an authority on Trek history. He's not. His books are riddled with errors and assumptions.
Episode two was slightly better, but devoting an entire episode to TAS felt a bit too much.

I did point out to the producers that they needed to triple check anything he said.
And I doubt TAS will get that kind of coverage again so I feel like you can live with 1 hr of information on TAS out of the thousands of hours of critical reviews and documentaries across 50+ years.
Triple checking Cushman is a job in of itself. Just ask @Maurice and @Harvey.
Sure. Not to say I don't enjoy TAS. I do. I love the TAS theme after all. I have the book you wrote, and it was great seeing you being interviewed on the subject. Also, it was nice that there was a lot devoted to DC Fontana's contribution to Trek.

With all due respect, crunching the birth and the entire history of the original series into to same amount of time as a sequel that produced ⅛th as much content (minutes of programming) feels off balance. But then, given what a pile of factual bullshit episode 1 was, maybe moving on was the best thing that could have happened.

I haven't seen it yet, but I hope that they take all his words out of context, liberally edit the interview out of order, and make bold accusations about him when he's not on screen.
They pushed episode 3 to Monday as you said, and are moving episode 4 from next Friday to Monday as well. Seems like they’re rushing through it, sort of.
Space channel here is airing it on Thursday along with Prodigy and Discovery (add Ready Room on Youtube and was quite the Trek filled past day), so I finally watched episode 1. Did Gates say 9 series in the intro? I count 11, 12 counting the upcoming Strange New Worlds, 14 counting After Trek and Ready Room.
