The bridge shots (large images)

What's funny here is that to me, it looks profoundly DATED. It represents "hi-tech" in the same way that the old "Flash Gordon" serials got their "high-tech" look by having exposed coils and vacuum tubes and so forth.

I agree that it's dated, although I'm reminded more of Buck Rogers than Flash Gordon. For me, the bridge has a late 70s/early 80s feel to it, which sits a little awkwardly with the TOS costumes.

Tos was overly bight except the bright lights seemed to come from nowhere giving it a surreal look - remember it's a vision of the future it doesn't really exist. no windows - viewing ports. It was aesthetically pleasing. The new bridge's lights can be seen blaring and that is a wet bar with Romulan ale on tap.

Most TV shows are too well lit. It's the main thing that's annoying me with the new Knight Rider.
So far (aside from the one nacelle Kelvin) I've liked what I've seen, the bridge is growing on me.

Probably a bad time to mention who my teenage crush was, huh?:alienblush:
I wouldn't worry too much about it, if I were you. You may safely assume that eddie is a TOS fan before all the rest and probably not the biggest fan of the new bridge look. After that, it's almost as safe to assume that he doesn't intend most of what he says outside of TNZ to be taken all too seriously (for all I know, the same might apply to what he says in TNZ, as well) and my response to him was made in like kind.

And most of those late-70s posters were pretty awful, anyway. :p

YEAH.

What M'Sharak said.

Actually I'm not totally upset about the new bridge design. I just think it looks too advanced and sleek for the 23rd century Starfleet timeline we've all grown up and become intimately familiar with.
Thanks, guys, but I got it the first time. I thought your responses were clever, and funny, and just had to add my thing. I admit they were cornball posters back then, but for a gay kid in the closet... those Leif posters were pure heaven!
