The Book Of Boba Fett

Am I crazy, or is the garage where Slave 1 is parked the exact same one featured in Star Wars: Battlefront's Out Rim expansion? It looks like they literally redressed the actual in-game asset!
I mean smart move since if there's already a design that works, makes sense, has already been built, and is suited for purpose; why not use it?!
It seems highly unlikely they'd use the exact same asset. It wouldn't be high quality enough. It's also scaled down.

In regards to using it, it probably came up during story meetings, or the concept phase. LucasFIlm probably gathered up any existing concepts they had for the palace.

What are the odds we'll see another clone run into Boba Fetts crew? Temuera doing double duty as a clone like Rex
Very low since Rex would be physically in his 80's at this point, and not likely to get involved with an underworld turf war.

They may have redressed it, but the geo and base textures all look identical. Plus, the volume is supposed to display real-time render assets, which is basically in-game level quality. They can get away with is since it's captured in-camera, not compted in.

Also, the sail barge isn't that much taller than Slave 1, so the scale looks about right to me.

A better question would be; what are the odds Temuera Morrison will show up as Rex in a Clone Wars flashback scene in either the Ahsoka or Kenobi show?
I'm gonna go with "2:1 against". Far from impossible, but contingent on too many unknown factors to be confident.

They've got the digital deaging tech. It wouldn't surprise me to see some deaged Temuera Morrison's in a flashback

It's less about the final renders than it is about the original scan data. And yes, getting such old data into a format modern software can use can be a non-trivial hurdle. As for what use it can be: well it'd give them at least the basic geometry of his face circa 2003, that's a very good start for the system they tend to use.

All that said, if they're doing a flashback to TCW in 'Book of Boba Fett' then it's not a younger Temuera Morrison they'll need, it's a young Daniel Logan. Indeed by rights, 2003 Temuera Morrison is what Boba should look like "now". So the only flashback that would need that would either be to the OT (kind of a cool idea but I don't see much of a point to it) or to Jango.
Either way the odds of Rex are very very low.

There's an exterior shot of the hangar/garage. Yeah it's in the same spot as Battlefront 1. Not identical in design, that tower to the left the entrance is much smaller, but it's a similar shape.

The garage itself seems to be effectively identical, the palace itself on the other hand has actually been rendered correctly (and reoriented so it's from a very familiar angle.) The palace exterior in BF was never all that accurate if you look at it side-by-side . . . not that any of the existing matte paintings were massively consistent, mind, but still, this is better at least.

I would imagine, depending on the video game engine, taking that asset and updating it would be very effective.

IIRC the Volume uses Unreal Engine. Battlefront was in Frostbite.

But, Fallen Order was on Unreal Engine and used some assets from Battlefront 2. The source files for the models would allow for easy conversion.

Yeah, given how closely LF worked with DICE & Respawn (some of the assets were clearly working from direct scans of the original props) it'd be pretty trivial to get the source files and import them into Unreal.

Though from what I gather, since season two the volume isn't really using Unreal anymore, but an engine ILM have coded for their own purposes. Either way, none of this is a massive hurdle.

Hell, if I wanted to, just using freely available software I could rip an asset out of any of those games right now and import them into blender. I'm pretty sure a company like ILM would have even less trouble, even if they had to go that route.

I still doubt they're using the exact assets from the game(s). Probably just used them as reference and built them from scratch at a higher quality.
