Spoilers The Blacklist - Season 8 Discussion Thread

Just to clarify, it's N-13.

Gotta agree with you about poor Dembe. He really is in a bitch of a spot, ain't he?

How many different secret lists has this show had besides the Fulcrum and Sikorsky archive?

Well, when you are dealing with the criminal underworld and spies, it makes sense you'd run into that kind of thing.

This show has reached the point of no return. Liz just tried to murder Reddington without any care for collateral damage. But the people making The Blacklist hero worship her the same way Dexter's second showrunner treated Dexter, so a lot of stupidity is required from other characters to allow everything to keep going on instead of bringing an end to it all. Meanwhile, the show continues to spin its wheels about all these "secrets."

I've always been sure the show would turn Liz into Red 2.0 but they've made Anakin's trip to the Darkside seem unforeseen and downright clever by comparison.

Considering the fact that Liz barely knew her mother (and that's also making the assumption that the woman claiming to be Katarina really was her mother), her reactions are knee-jerk at best and very ill-thought out at worst. At this point, she'd rather kill Red than to hear what he has to say first. In her mind, there is no possible excuse for his actions, but she's now willing to endanger others with her own actions.

It was really stupid writing for Liz to want to kill Red with a bomb and detonate it blindly. Or for her to absolutely have to do it while he's in the hospital. But that's par for the course on this show.

Yeah, the logic that drives this show is getting more shaky with each episode, but what keeps me coming back is the hope that the eventual pay-off, in terms of learning what secrets he's hiding, might be worth it.

I'm now quite convinced that Dom was Red's father, which makes him Katarina's brother or half-brother.

Hell, she's the one person who can get up close to Red and stick him in the jugular. If anyone could kill Red at any second from any range of choice without any problem shy of Dembe it ought to be Liz. The worst aspect of this show has always been what personality will we give Liz this episode. That wouldn't be so unendurable if those personalities maintained some level of competence and intelligence from one episode to the next.

You know who actually got close to Red and could've stuck him in the jugular? The PI that was working for Liz that planted the bomb. They left her alone in the room with Red! It didn't need to be a bomb.

The whole thing is just bad writing.

The Blacklist has been renewed for season 9, so at least one more year where we don't learn anything about Red, the plot goes around in circles and Liz breaks a billion laws without consequence.

The twist leading into season 9, Red is really Red and the bones are from the future. Season 9, just kidding, time travel doesn't exist and he's not really Red after all. Who is he? Tune in to find out!

The last episode of The Blacklist was a lot more entertaining than previous episodes and they seem to be taking the plot in an interesting direction..... however, in order to move the chess pieces around to where they wanted, there was a whole lot of stupid going on. Everyone had to be morons who worship the ground Elizabeth walks on in order to reach her position at the end of the episode. Fortunately for her, COVID has limited the number of people who work at the Post Office to four.

Also, this show has completely forgotten that Agnes has another grandmother who isn't dead, who is extremely rich and powerful.

Yeah funny you should mention that, as I was wondering if Tom's mom will pop up again at some point.

I have to admit, even I'm starting to get tired of Liz going completely out of control, but then being forgiven and let back onto the team. I think at this point she's gone to far to often, so I'm gonna be pissed if they just let her back on the team and go back to business as usual.
I'm still enjoying the show overall, but they are kind of starting to stretch the limits of believability with the kind of things they let the characters get away with.
I was wondering if Liz has actually always been #1 on The Blacklist all along, since it sounds like this might have actually been the endgame that Red had in mind for her?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that the drive that Cooper ended up with is the infamous 'Sikorsky Archive - and it's equally obvious to me that poor old Harold doesn't have the slightest clue as to what the password is. With the show renewed for a ninth season, he may spend most of this one trying to figure it out.

On the plus side, no Liz.

On the negative side, still a lot of stupid. The killer is let free legally because Red is the informant? Fruit from the poisonous tree doesn't apply here. Plus they caught the killer in the middle of the act.

It's great to see the the legal system in The Blacklist universe is too incompetent to be corrupt.

So something happened with Megan Boone, right? That's 8 episodes without her now. No mention of a pregnancy or Covid or anything.
