Spoilers The Blacklist - Season 7 Discussion Thread

Photoman, I couldn't agree more. According to Jon Bokenkamp, we're supposed to 'read between the lines' for clues as to who Red really is, and I'm guessing a lot of those lines are meant to be spoken by Red himself. If he was Ilya, he'd probably be denying it. But he's not, hence the coy word games with Cooper, Liz and anyone else who doesn't actually know the truth.

One theory that's been going around is that Dom's tale is true, but then the real Red returns from the dead and then who knows what happens after that.

If the Dom episode is 100% BS, then that's just bad TV storytelling. Right up there with "it was all a dream" episodes.

I was pleased to find out that my theory that Brett Cullen was in fact, Ilya Koslov, turned out to be true, so we're right back to Square One as to who Red might really be. If in fact he and Ilya have known each other since childhood, it DOES seem to indicate that Red is Russian as well. He could be Ilya's brother. Or, he could turn out to be Constantine's brother, which would go a long way to explaining his interest in Lizzie; it would make her his niece and also explain why he has no real concern for Jennifer - IF he's not really Raymond Reddington. And I'm still not fully convinced that he's not. Photoman15, did you take note of the hat Red was wearing when he and Dembe abducted the kid?)

Just sayin'.

I really think it was a deliberate, visual clue - it really jumped out at me when I saw it and I once again thought of his 'Popeye' quote.

:techman:

Things are not looking real good for Ilya, though I suspect that 'Big Red' and Dembe will find just barely in time to save him. The big question is - just where is he being held? Certainly not in the apartment next door to Liz, as we saw evidence that Ilya is being kept in what appears to be a basement of some sorts.

They're hiding him in Liz's basement, since she'll never check all the sounds coming from down there. :D

I always forget about this thread since I rarely come over to the regular TV and Media section.
So I'm a little confused about who Frank is. Katarina keeps calling him Ilya, but I thought Red was Ilya. I kept expecting him to tell her he's not really Ilya, but he never did. So is he pretending to be Ilya to cover for Red?

No, I think he's really Ilya. Red is... Well, who knows at this point? I still can't shake the notion that he's the Real Raymond Reddington, but we'll see.

If Red is really Red, then they're going to have to come up with one helluva story to explain the bones. But since they're just making everything up as they go along, that won't happen.

I could see him being someone other than Ilya, but I really can't see them going back to him being the real Red.

In reality, I think you're probably right JD, but as Aragorn pointed out, they seem to be making this shit up as they go along, so who knows.

"I am what I am. Popeye the sailor-man."

Someday, we'll know the answers, ALL the answers, to our questions.

And with this last episode, we learn that the story Dom told Elizabeth is mostly true, except for the part about who actually went under the knife to become Reddington. And we won't be getting that answer for a while.

Yeah, but I think Dom left out the part about trying to have his daughter blown to smithereens, LOL!

Yeah, it's a long road before we ever find out who Red really is. I still try to connect the dots after each episode, but so far, I'm not getting a picture out of it.

:brickwall:

Red is red and Blacklister #2 will be him and #1 will be Liz after he croaks and she takes over the criminal empire. Just as soon as she learns to stop giving her name, SS#, and mother's maiden name to everyone she meets.

OK I admit, I'm a bit confused here - I thought all along that Katarina was one of the few people who knew who Red actually was, but it seemed pretty evident that she doesn't. Which clearly indicates that she wasn't the Russian woman who had arranged for the plastic surgery on Red. I'm beginning to think that person was Dom's wife and that Katarina is looking for her own mother. This whole thing has revolved around the Rostova family and I think the final answer has to lie within there.

Which makes it less likely that Red is Triple-R.
