On the subject of who Red might really be - I've been toying with a theory that on the surface, seems to fit the facts, but it's bit out there. That being said - could it be possible that Red is actually a Rostova sibling, abeit a previously unmentioned one. He could be estranged, or even the product of an affair Dom had in his youth. EIther way, it would make him not only Katarina's brother, but more importantly, Lizzie's uncle. Which would explain his interest in her well-being (and his complete disconnect with Triple-R's daughter Jennifer), how he and Ilya could've known each other since childhood, and his relationship with Dom, which at times borders on that of a father and son who haven't always seen eye to eye.

AND, if Katarina had very little contact with her brother growing up, it could explain how with plastic surgery he could assume Triple-R's identity and she might never realize it was her estranged brother (or half-brother). It also falls into my idea that Mrs. Dom was the Russian woman who arranged for the plastic surgery, both to change his face and to minimize the scar damage from the fire (let us not forget that whoever Red is, he was there that night and carried little Lizzie to safety.)

LIke I said, it sort of fits what we know as the facts, but as of yet, there's very little evidence to suggest that Dom had a son, but OTOH, we hadn't heard of Ilya Koslov until last season. So anything's possible, at last on The Blacklist.

Final note pointing to the fact that Red really is a Russian; his requested last meal in prison was a typical Russian dish, something his mother made, as I recall.

So, am I bonkers, or does anyone else think this is possible?

    :D

Red is Red. He gave that away already. "I am what I am. Popeye the sailor man". The real Red was a naval officer.

I know, that's the one thing I still can't get out of my mind, that nagging belief that he's really who he says he is. I think deep down, I still believe that, but I'm trying to figure out then just WHO is the bag of bones - or did Red have the DNA report fabricated in some manner to indicate that?

According to Bokenkamp, we're not going to learn the answer until NBC tells them that they're being taken off the air.

He said that, damn, I had assumed we'd be getting our answer at the end of the season.
That is not the craziest theory I've ever heard.
I'm hoping he's not really the real Red, those kind of fake outs and back and forths drive me nuts.

Kat: I need you to keep it a secret. Can you keep it a secret?
    Liz: Of course...

That's some funny shit. Clearly, Kat doesn't know this woman at all.

It's not coming back until March? That's gonna be a hell of a wait.
I'm glad to hear they're going to be lighter and more fun for a while, that's always a nice change of pace after a stretch of darker episodes like the last few.

I had a dream about The Blacklist. Even though I was in this world and not watching it on TV, part of me could still tell it was finally winding down toward the series finale, because a bunch of blacklisters were brought back to work with Red and a bunch of blacklisters were brought back to work for the final bad guy, which might've been played by Jeffrey Donovan. It was like the Justice League versus the Legion of Doom.

I've been meaning to start commenting here again now that the show has resumed, but the new reality of our world has kept me occupied with a number of other things. However, upon learning yesterday about the passing of Brian Dennehy, I felt compelled to post, as he has been a favorite actor of mine over the years.

This article details Dennehy's final appearance on the show:

Failed to put the face to the character to the name until now... Bummer.

This year has been weaker overall, I'd say, although I enjoyed Spader's judge, jury and executioner turn this last episode.

Just a reminder to whoever may still be watching that the season finale is tonight. It will be interesting to see just how the story is rendered, using existing footage that was shot before the coronat-virus shutdown, and the graphic-novel style animation that 's being added to turn this episode into the last one until we get an eighth season, somewhere down the road.

This episode is reputed to be the last one for Dom. I'm kinda psyched to see what we'll end up with.

I still watch, but it's getting harder and harder to like the show. So much wheel spinning to avoid giving answers (they they probably haven't come up with yet), and so much stupidity the way Liz is written.

Totally agree with you on the Liz part. After the number of times that Red has saved her ass, she's siding with her mother, who she barely knows? And who may not even be her mother at all?
