On the subject of who Red might really be - I've been toying with a theory that on the surface, seems to fit the facts, but it's bit out there. That being said - could it be possible that Red is actually a Rostova sibling, abeit a previously unmentioned one. He could be estranged, or even the product of an affair Dom had in his youth. EIther way, it would make him not only Katarina's brother, but more importantly, Lizzie's uncle. Which would explain his interest in her well-being (and his complete disconnect with Triple-R's daughter Jennifer), how he and Ilya could've known each other since childhood, and his relationship with Dom, which at times borders on that of a father and son who haven't always seen eye to eye.
AND, if Katarina had very little contact with her brother growing up, it could explain how with plastic surgery he could assume Triple-R's identity and she might never realize it was her estranged brother (or half-brother). It also falls into my idea that Mrs. Dom was the Russian woman who arranged for the plastic surgery, both to change his face and to minimize the scar damage from the fire (let us not forget that whoever Red is, he was there that night and carried little Lizzie to safety.)
LIke I said, it sort of fits what we know as the facts, but as of yet, there's very little evidence to suggest that Dom had a son, but OTOH, we hadn't heard of Ilya Koslov until last season. So anything's possible, at last on The Blacklist.
Final note pointing to the fact that Red really is a Russian; his requested last meal in prison was a typical Russian dish, something his mother made, as I recall.
