i discovered this show, and am now all caught up. I love the show. i relate so much to all the characters. Small things like when they look through comics saying "got it, got it,,," i laugh my butt off. Because that is me most times i'm in the comic store.

Aww, I wanted Raj to be happy, and he could even talk to the girl sober. 
I just started watching. It airs weeknights at 7 and 7.30 in my area. It's one of the funniest shows I've seen in a long time. I almost had a heart attack when I watched the scene with Leonard and Sheldon in the ball pit.
"If you don't come out of there I'm going to drag you out."
"You can try.... but you'll never catch me!"
Which then lead to Leonard diving in after Sheldon, but having a difficult time trying to grab him.
"BAZINGA!"
My other favorite thus far was when Sheldon and Leonard's pad is robbed, so Sheldon, feeling insecure, decides to relocate to Bozeman, Montana -- which I wonder if it was an indirect reference to Star Trek: First Contact (And also Brannon Braga's place of birth). I laughed so hard when Sheldon first arrives, he's not there thirty seconds and is immediately robbed. He chases after the culprit.

What I love about Sheldon is he is incredibly smart but at the same time incredibly dumb.
I can't get enough of the show.

Sometimes I think Frasier has just ruined most other sitcoms for me. The culture-clash premise of Big Bang Theory is similar to Frasier & Niles' snobby isolation from "normal" people but the writing on Frasier is just so much sharper; even though, interest-wise, I'm much closer to the Big Bang Theory nerds than I am to Frasier & Niles' cultured snobbery.
This week's episode was subpar, unfortunately. Just not enough humour. I generally enjoyed the Sheldon/Leonard B-plot, but the show is spending too much time on the Howard/Bernadette relationship this season. None of it feels fresh, and it's making both characters unlikeable.
Penny's also been getting completely short shrift for way too long now. It feels like since the start of season 4, she's just been a minor supporting character, the same level as Raj or even Amy, as opposed to being one of the three principal leads like she used to be. I hope she gets more to do soon.

I agree good episode lots of laughs. I love brent spiner confrontation. and leonard biding for the data dolls at the end. I hope howard gets to go to space despite his mother. and it cool to find out what happened to his father. the only father figure we have seen on the show was penny's.

Howard being an astronaut may be the single most ridiculous thing I've ever heard on tv. With Bernadette not wanting him to go a close second.
Part of me is hoping we meet Evil Marina Sirtis next. By some point the entire cast will have wronged Sheldon in some way...
Has Levar Burton made a guest appearance yet? Or has it only been on Community so far?
He did a quick two-second cameo back in the spring. It actually might have been the same night as his Community appearance, if I recall. Either that, or the week immediately after. No scenes or interaction with any of the main cast though.
Yeah, and that itself was wierd. As it stands, Spiner was on screen for all of what, two minutes? I guess they can grab these guy for such quick cameos just to say they did. Who else is still living in the LA area that they can nab?

Yep, don't astronauts have to be like amazingly fit? Given Howard's asthma etc I doubt he'd pass the physical requirements.

I think the purpose of the scene at Wil's party was to show him "passing the torch" to Brent Spiner, Sheldon's new famous Star Trek mortal enemy.
I think we may see more Brent Spiner on the show in the future. I didn't really like the Bernadette/Howard story either, and I agree that I am starting to like their characters less and less. I would say they are the only weak point of the show; I don't find their relationship all that believable, and I hope they revisit the whole living at Howard's house thing, because for him to get married he will have to break with his mother soon.
As for the guys' nerdiness...I think the type of geekdom it best represents are Physics nerds. My boyfriend is getting a PhD in Physics and he gets jokes on the show that I would never understand. His classmates also strangely mirror many of the characters, it really is funny when it is so close to reality. Of course they also throw the Star Trek/comic book/Dungeons & Dragons nerdiness in there too, which are the jokes that I can appreciate and laugh at. So in a sense I guess you could call it "broad" nerdiness, but I guess I'm a "broad nerd" (or a "nerdy broad"
), so I don't mind.
Its a comedy and not one that going for "realism", so I don't find Howard going intro space all that ridiculous. It's probably not even in the top 100 of the most ridiculous things heard on TV. Bernadette's reaction even less so.
