The bias of Midnights Edge....

I was under the impression Captain Foley is an Old School Trekkie into Trek specs and -- as far as those types of fans usually seem to go -- he's surprisingly okay with Discovery, even if he has to compartmentalize it. Commander Cockings is a little harder to read. He seems neutral.

I haven't listened to their episode reviews and haven't watched all their stuff, but that's how they come across to me. I wouldn't call them bashers. I'd call them "in the middle". I know an "STD Sucks!" type of Basher when I see one. They're not it.

I haven't watched to any of their episode reviews because I really don't care what they think of it.

But they have said numerous times they're not against Discovery completely, they're just against it being prime.

For example Foley loves the DSC Enterprise. I think Cockings likes it as well? as Garth said he's hard to read.

It suddenly occurs to me that any of us could do similar to Doomcook or Midnight's Bread and make some YouTube $$$. We wouldn't even have to really hate Discovery, just say what haters want to hear - which we've all heard enough of to know by rote.

Now I'm wondering if they really do hate Discovery, or if they're geniuses manipulating idiots into clicks:lol:

There's no reason why they can't be both. :D

I actually unsubscribed from trekyards because I got so tired of their rediculous scale comparisons. Where they take the largest possible scaling of x ship from the kelvinverse or discovery and compare it to the smallest possible prime ship. “ohhh gooood it’s so big how can this happennn”

These people live in a snowglobe made of tos canon

I have seen videos where they looked at different scalings, then pointed out what made the most sense to them.

But I do agree that they sometimes seem to be a bit too stuck on a specific scale even if it's not actually confirmed but that's just them being fans, most of us have something we put way too much importance on. In the bigger picture of fan run youtube channels they are quite reasonable.
They did a video on the Discovery klingons for example when season 1 aired, they pulled up make up changes from the sixties to now put them in chronological order and slotted DSC in before TOS and concluded that they didn't look that out of place.

I like the idea of Trekyards, but they're far too stuck in their own view of Trek. I watched the Sean Hargreaves episodes and 90% of it was "why did you violate continuity with X?", "I was instructed to." and attempting to draw him into technical discussions of reconciling his stuff with canon. The best bit was the very end, when they asked if he considered making the new Enterprise-A the same size as the original version and he said if he did so he'd have been laughed out of the room because in Hollywood bigger = better.

I also watched their Pacific 201 episodes where every question attempted to reconcile the P201 ships as refits and updates when the designer kept saying again and again that P201 was a unique take on Trek with a unique visual style.

I don't watch Trekyards because i can't take someone called Captain Cockings seriously
I watch them occasionally, when they have a decent guest on.
Most of the time, I can't understand what the gentleman over in England is saying due to his accent and tendency to speak so fast his words slur.

The actual combination of their last names has a much funnier meaning that I'm not sure they have figured out yet.
Captain Foley & Commander Cockings...

I work at a hospital and often deal with a medical device called a FOLEY CATHETER.
Which is a flexible latex tube that is inserted through the Penis into the bladder to drain urine out.

The way they talk to each other at times reminds me of the exact same process...
One is always trying to take the piss out of the other.
:guffaw:

He's gotten better at it, he used to introduce himself as Commecoggngs.:guffaw:Not that I'd be better at it, there's a reason I avoid public speaking, I tend to talk very fast.

I like both of them, they're nerdy fanboys, I can relate. I don't care that much about scaling etc. but I do think it's interesting to see ships from different franchises shown next to each other when the scale is known. I had no idea the Babylon 5 ships were supposed to be that large for example.

In the end it's just people with differing opinions. Don't agree, just don't watch. Simple.
In the case of Midnights Edge, I don't think it is a differing opinion; I honestly feel that their opinion of DSC (whatever that might be) is irrelevant to them. I think all they are concerned about is posting outrageous rants in order to get clicks.

People who produce clickbait videos don't necessarily believe the stuff in their videos. All they care about is attracting the person who agrees with their rants to click through.

Inflammatory comments get more clicks, and more clicks = the potential to get more money from advertisers.

I will not fight you on this.........you may be onto something! ;-)

Well Capt. Foley is married, so I rather doubt his Mrs. wants him going there anyway.

As for Cmndr. Cockings, apparently, based on that image, his fantasies run somewhat in the same direction as mine so I'd have to give him a thumbs-up for creativity.

Given how wrong Midnight's Edge has been about Discovery on a regular basis I find it stunning that anyone takes them seriously. They claimed the show was about Sarek trying to change the timeline, how it wasn't really the Prime timeline, how the show was on the verge of cancellation and all kinds of total bullshit. I can only imagine it's given any attention out of desperation to hear what certain people want to hear. I'm not sure why they keep coming back though. If I had been lied to that often I'd avoid it like the plague.
