I think the descent into Rapture in the Bathysphere at the beginning of Bioshock was incredible. Far more enticing than the standard pre-rendered into gunk.
Freespace 2 had a fantastic intro because it gave you what you could expect from the game, a fantastic score, big battles between fighters and cap ships and a nice quick little speech to get you up to date on the story.
Liked the original Dawn of War intro and the new DoW2 intro. They give the feel of the 40,000K universe nicely.
If I could get just one game this fall, it'd have to be Fallout 3 (followed closely by the Warcraft expansion pack). So far all of the videos and screenshots I've seen have been very nice, but I really hope it has the personality and charm of the original Black Isle games.
My vote goes to the introductory cinematic for Starcraft: Brood War, where DuGalle and Stukov watch from the comfort of Aleksander as the Zerg overrun a Terran colony: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOEGudEoSW4
Rise and shine, Mister Freeman, rise and... shine. Not that I wish... to imply that you have been sleeping on... the job. No one is more deserving of a rest, and all the effort in the world would have gone to waste until... well... let's just say your hour has come again. The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world. So wake up, Mister Freeman...wake up and... smell the ashes.
