Honestly, the farther you get away from it, it's clearer to me that John was the most inspired artist, especially lyrically, but his music composition is rather over simplistic, or maybe even a little unskilled. Paul was the most competent music composer, but his concepts were very pop, & not as deep. He did after all write what is now widely considered the most hated Christmas song ever lol

That's why Lennon/McCartney gravitated to making the best songwriting team, that complementing of one another

Ringo was the best personality, while going largley unrecognized for being a perfectly competent & enjoyable performer, & George was the best instrumentalist. He wrote some good stuff too, but I feel like his best compositions were directly inspired from being in the creative element The Beatles offered.

I'd actually say that about all of them. I think them all having such different areas of excellence meant they were a good mesh, that complemented each other, & also found a way to bolster each other in areas they each might not have been as good at as someone else. Once they were working apart, they no longer had that kind of counterbalance in their work. They drove each other to better their weak areas, & support their excellent ones

It's the same reason I'm grateful they also happened to have their friendly rivalry with Brian Wilson & The Beach Boys. The existence of that external adversary IMHO made both groups strive to achieve better & more inspired creations. So too with the internal dynamics of the Beatles.

Mick Jagger is on record calling The Beatles, 'The Four-Headed Monster.'
Individually they were quite good, but together they were unparalleled.

I voted Beatles, because in my opinion, nobody can beat the Beatles. But if you take each of their post-Beatle careers, I find George's the most satisfying. His solo work, plus The Traveling Wilburys is really incredible.

John was good overall, but the Plastic Ono Band stuff was just not my thing.
I liked Wings and some of Paul's solo stuff, but there is a lot of it, and some of it isn't very good.
Ringo had a decent solo career, but nothing that really stands out for me. I do like his All Starr band work, but I think it helps that he has some legitimate musicians in their own right doing their own stuff, too.

I’m a HUGE Harrison (solo work) fan. But I can’t pretend that the sim of the parts are greater than the whole, especially after seeing Get Back.

Saddening revelations in that one. While I have said my apologies to Yoko Ono into the aether, she still cannot sing a note.

Harrison was a very talented musician and songwriter, I like his work a lot, and even in the confines of the band, he has some great songs.
But it's not a nice choice to make, The Beatles were incredible, their total output is unsurpassed and their music will be heard for years to come
The sum of the parts of The Beatles made them what they were, even Ringo, and without either of the foursome, they would not have been the same.

This "new" official video for an old song premiered back in December, but I only just came across it.

A great old Harrison song with a star studded cast in the video.

Cool vid, but I don't get the meaning.

Voted Harrison solo. He solo funded Life of Brian, which is much better than any of the music the Beatles (or solo Harrison) made.
