Spoilers The Bad Batch - Season 1 Discussion [cue A-Team theme music]

I loved this episode! I figured at some point The Bad Batch would follow The Clone Wars and start doing episodes where our heroes are in the supporting role of the story and this particular episode is better because of that set-up. I especially think it was better to have the Bad Batch take a backseat as weapons suppliers instead of being somehow forced into the story as part of the fight (especially since we just had that particular story last episode).

It was wonderful seeing young Hera, Chopper, her parents, and that corrupt senator who I can never remember the name of, as well as Ryloth's place in the early days of the Empire. Of course, Crosshair and Rampart were in the thick of everything and I was not at all surprised when they turned Hera's rescue into a means of framing Cham and Eleni for assassination of the senator. And now a young rebel has been born...

It was a short scene, but I loved seeing Hera meet Omega and how they immediately bonded over their dream of becoming pilots. We already know Hera is destined to become one of the best and hopefully Omega will be able to continue her journey towards that dream, too. And before anyone says it, I don't care about Small Universe Syndrome, at least in this case. Their meeting is both fitting and touching and I can only hope they cross paths again.

Because there are so many Clone characters and I have a hard time telling most of them apart aside from the most obvious ones, I honestly wasn't sure if Howzer was someone we had seen before but according to Wookiepedia, he's a new character. If we see Ryloth again (which I wouldn't be surprised about), I imagine we'll see him again and his obvious struggle to reconcile his duties with what is right.

Next week's episode is titled "Rescue on Ryloth".
Ah, that does make sense, although I was kind of hoping they would've left Hera's fleeing open-ended. But at least it means we'll see more of her and the rest sooner!

...also, that probably means we'll see Eleni's death in the next episode. :(

HERA AND CHOPPER!!!
Damn, this episode was amazing. And it didn't bother me at all the Batch were only there for one scene. The story on Ryloth with the Syndullahs was engrossing enough, and damn this made for a fine half hour this week.

CHOPPER!
Heras voice actress was the same, which was nice. Same with chopper as himself..:rommie:

Not a big fan on un needed origin stories, but was a good episode.:bolian:

This was a weird one. As a episode of The Bad Batch, it felt kind of out of place. The main characters were barely in it, and it didn't really move their arcs forward.
But as a Rebels fan, I loved getting an origin story for Hera, and getting to see Chopper again.
With the way this ended, and the title of next week's episode, I wouldn't be surprised if we see The Batch getting pulled into the mission to rescue Hera's parents. If that is the case, then that would do a lot to help this one feel more like it belonged with the rest of the episodes.

I wonder what's the ultimate fate of the Bad Batch. I mean they weren't with Rex hunting that creature in Rebels....

Interesting change of pace with the newest episode, with the story focused on the Twi'leks and the Bad Batch only making a brief appearance. I wonder if there will be more episodes along those lines.

On another topic which was probably already discussed plenty (but I haven't read through this thread much), I found it a bit odd in the previous episode that Hunter would still have a thing against the Separatists, considering that everything had been upturned with the clone army turning on the Jedi and the Republic suddenly becoming an Empire. Maybe from a certain point of view, the Separatists turned out to be right in the first place, and it wouldn't be such a bad idea to go look for those who had sided with the Separatists during the Clone Wars?

I don't think Orn Free Taa is dead. For one the imperial commander said it was an 'Attempted assassination', if he was actually dead I don't think he would have said 'attempted'.

Plus you see his hand moving when they push him away on the stretcher.

He's alive in a novel set after this episode. Not that really means anything, they've already contradicted things from the books/comics in the shows, but still.

For that matter, Hera and Omega become friends here, yet Omega is apparently nowhere to be found when Hera is grown up...

Considering that Rex was still in the zone, so to speak, when the Rebels encountered Seperatist droids over 15 years after the war ended, Hunter being like that less than a year after the end of the war is believable.

True but it feels like a deliberate set-up. They didn't have to show that moment. I'm betting we'll find out more about Omega later on down the road and we'll see the two of them together again, either in animation or live action.

I’m of two minds on this episode.
1) I enjoyed the exploration of Hera’s backstory and the Empire’s rapacious authoritarianism.
2) I have been a bit bored by this show, mostly as it seems like the BB don’t really have anything special to do, and this episode’s reduction of them to gunrunners made sense story wise but didn’t make me feel any less nervous about what’s next for our boys.
