Spoilers The Bad Batch - Season 1 Discussion [cue A-Team theme music]

I love that The Batch didn't accept payment for their actions. A good deed done for its own sake.
Yes! I loved that touch, too.

It's interesting that the more engaging parts are around characters not in the main cast. I am having this experience a lot with Star Wars lately.
Well, Omega is part of the main cast. ;)

But I get your point. I think in this instance, the show is trying do the leg work of expanding its universe in relation to the Bad Batch which will shift the focus away from the main cast. I know some people aren't thrilled by that, but so far it's worked well for me.

I was specifically talking about Hera. But, yeah, I knew that would be said.

For me, it is a welcome change because the Bad Batch isn't enjoyable as a main cast. I can say the Hera stuff is the first parts of this show to actually hook me in.

Enjoyable episode. I can't help but wonder if they're laying down plot threads for future storylines? There's the obvious, with Crosshair now actively searching for the Batch, but others I think might get picked up on, there's Howzer and the fact that some Clones are starting to reject the Imperial Kool-Aid. Even if Howzer doesn't show up again, the fact that Clones are starting to question the Imperial mission could lead to why the Empire ceases utilizing them and switches to recruits as Stormtroopers. Also, IIRC, Hera's mother is dead by Rebels, or at least not in the fight anymore? I wonder if they'll ever address what happened to her, either in another episode of The Bad Batch or some other show, or a story in one of the tie-ins.

If I'm remembering correctly, Rebels established that she was killed by the Empire. Not clear when, but by implication it seemed to me to be fairly early on. Or, put another way, right in The Bad Batch's wheelhouse. We'll see if that's something they want to explore or address at all.

Was expecting heras mothers death this episode, but didn't happen. But I agree, gives some room for ryloth to be revisited.
Kind of by the numbers episode, but had. Chopper, so was good. Looking forward to the crosshair hunt.

Hands down my favorite episode since the first of the season. This had everything. Great stuff for Hera and Chopper. Big moments for Omega and Hunter. But also all the world building stuff I was hoping for. The Empire tightening the screws, the fate of the clones, the earliest rumbles of rebellion. I loved this so very much.

Howzer was done so well here. It looks like Order 66 wears off? Or didn't affect every clone the same way. And now we have division in the ranks, between those who still remember their mission, their very purpose, and those who believe a good soldier follows orders. Watching him come around and finally see the light was utterly thrilling. I love the clones. But also a little bit tragic, because we suspect that it ends really, really badly for them.

Also, Hunter being inspired by Omega and Howzer. "They're her family. I'd do the same for you," Omega told him. And Howzer refusing to give up on his squad. Hunter now knows he needs to do something to try and save Crosshair. Even as the latter sets his sights on bringing them in. They are on a collision course. Can Crosshair be saved from the 66 programming? Or will he force the Batch to kill him? Or worse still, will the programming be broken and Crosshair CHOOSE to remain Imperial? I suspect that last one, because what a knife to the heart that would be. I wonder if we'll go straight into the big showdown next week, or if they'll delay it for the season finale.

Speaking of Omega dropping truth bombs: "We can't just put ourselves on the line every time someone is in trouble," Hunter says. "Why not? Isn't that what soldiers do?" No, actually, it's not. But it is what Jedi do. In a galaxy without Jedi, they'll just have to settle for The Bad Batch. Or so it seems. The jury is still out on whether or not the Force is with Omega (I still suspect not), but she proved the kind of person she is right there.

I'm not going to lie, while I've been enjoying TBB, their were a few episodes there that were starting to feel a little aimless. Pretty classic first season stuff, establishing the world and the characters, so I wasn't too worried. But enough that while I wasn't bored the series didn't feel like a must watch. These last two have been so good, all the pieces are coming together in a really satisfying way. I'm really looking forward to it once again.

I know they will most likely redeem Crosshair.......but I would love to see him go down hard......

Maybe.
But I wouldn’t be surprised if they manage to capture him, remove the chip, but nothing changes for Crosshairs.
We’ve seen that the chip doesn’t necessarily change personalities.
Crosshairs is not just following orders anymore.
He is relishing in the amoral freedom the empire gives him.
And he has developed a bit of an obsession with the Batch. For him it’s personal.
I could be wrong here, but that’s the vibe I am getting.

I think Crosshair's situation is deliberately ambiguous with hints and suggestions of how his actual mental standing could go either way. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if, after the chip is removed (assuming that happens), he remains a supporter of the Empire, nor would I be surprise if he turned on them after seeing the error of his ways.

And that, I argue, makes his story all the more fascinating.

Hera's (and the other Twi-leks) accent is different in Bad Batch compared to when she is older in Rebels. I guess it would make sense if she ends up spending more time around humans in the coming years.

Yeah being around humans changed it but she fell back into her French accent in Rebels in one scene when angrily speaking with her father. I think Pablo Hidalgo mentioned it was done because people often do that when emotions run high or something like that.
