The Arsenal of Fredom

Willieck

Commander
Red Shirt
Just watched this. Not a bad episode; I quite liked the salesman character and the thinking behind the story was quite good. However the supposedly super weapons which were floating around making life difficult for the away team were pretty ineffective. They did not hit a target once!

Ok, full disclosure. This is tongue in check....but someone is bound to say it and completely mean it. :wtf:

Ahem......but that was the point of the sales presentation. The first model was easy to defeat, but with each new model, the flying blow dryers, er, I mean super weapons were learning and evolving into more effective killing machines. And don't forget. The super weapon that went after Enterprise did do a lot of damage. Finally, you have to remember, these things were responsible for wiping out their own creators.

K....I'm done.

This ep is easily in my top 5 for Season One. And the Sales Hologram :guffaw:
Picard: "Shut it off."
S.HG: "But you haven't seen half of what this beauty can do."

I swear I worked with a guy just like that in my younger days. What a gem he was.

Cheesy? Yes. The only thing that really annoys me when I watch it is the engineer character. What a douche. But then, I think that was supposed to be the point, so ... yay.

I loved The Arsenal of Freedom -- one of the highlights of season 1. I particularly liked the scenes with Geordi, Logan, Solis, T'Su, Worf, and Troi. After Geordi took the Stardrive Section it was awesome to watch the final battle with all the junior officers working as a tight machine and saving the ship.

Worf, how fast can you get a phaser lock?
"Fast."

I have to echo many of the stuff said so far. This is one of my favorite S1 episodes.

The salesman character was great as was the Geordi/Worf/young officers storyline.

It's only drawback is the planet bound stuff. It just seemed like they were put there to leave Geordi in command.

Arsenal of Freedom was great. Especially loved the comment about Reagan's unnecessary bulking up of the military. Came through beautifully.

Im glad theres a thread about this- in watching the series through again recently, I really think this is one of the best episodes, definately top 25 for me. As far as straight-up action eps go, its phenomenal. The climax with Geordi on the battle bridge was really well done, surprisingly epic. Very clever all around.
