The brown Emperor penguin is an older chick that's going through its final molt to gain its black, white, and gold adult plumage. But at this time the chick is still dependent on the adult to feed it, as chicks can't get their own food until their waterproof feathers grow in.

This 'teenage' penguin chick is probably demanding food NOW!

It always makes me laugh when the adult Grackles out here are trying to teach their kids how to get their own food. The kids follow their parents around screaming their heads off, while the parents ignore them and wander around pecking at the ground, trying to show them what to do.
