The Animals That Aren't Dogs or Cats Thread

And Baby Donkey in all its cuteness

Had kind of a nice little moment with the horse I'm calling Curly, while I was saying hi during my bike. While I was petting and kind of playing with him as he was trying to grab my fingers with is lips, he actually swung his head over the fence and if the fence hadn't been there, he probably would have had it on my shoulder. I don't think he was trying to bite me or anything, it didn't seem aggressive, he just stuck his head over the fence and had his head right next to my face.
I'm thinking about taking a video next time I say hi so you guys and can see them.
Oh, and I'm also convinced that Curly is an appropriate name. While I was watching before he came over to say hi, he kept sticking his head through the middle of one of the other parts of the fence, instead of over it. I was kind of nervous he was going to get stuck.
I'm also a little concerned, because the last two days Larry and Curly have been out by themselves, with Moe off in a different part of the stables by himself. I'm just hoping he's not separated from the others because something is wrong. I'm also a little disappointed, just because he's kinda becoming my buddy, of the three he's the quickest to come say hi, and spends the most time letting me pet him.

I got a hug from a horse this morning. I ran into one of the horseback riders I see a lot while I was on my bike and she let me pet her horse again. He actuualy came over to me once I got off my bike, and then while I was petting him and talking to her, he stepped forward and put his head against my chest. It caught us both totally off guard, apparently he did it completely on his own. So I guess he likes me.

It really is a wonderful feeling to get that kind of spontaneous affection from an animal, you know it's completely real and pure. They don't fake that kind of thing, if they like you, they're not afraid to show it, and if they don't they'll let you know too.

Anybody around here ever heard the phrase "in your pocket" in relation to horses? I recently started hearing it, and I'm not 100% sure what it means. From context it seems to mean that they're really friendly and will always follow you around, but I'm not sure if there's more to it.

Along with Mother's Day, today is also World Donkey Day.
Cuddle Buddies has put together a video profiling Monte the Singing Donkey. His account is a lot of fun, and highly recommend checking it out if you're on IG or Facebook.

Geobeats Animals has put together a video about Petey the pig, once of the newest residents at one of my favorite sancutaries, Arthur's Acres. Petey is one of my favorite pigs there, he is adorable and hilarious. He has one of the best laughs of any animal I have ever heard.
