Ron Swineson really didn't want to get out of bed.

This news has been making the rounds in the horse community, and has now even made it onto CNN. An unknow disease has hit the Bureau of Land Management Cañon City wild horse holding facility in Colorado. So far it has killed 67 horses out of the 2,550 horse that they have there, and they apparently have no idea what it is.
The conditions in most of these facilities are pretty bad, with thousands of horse back in pretty tightly, so sadly it's not to surprising something like this is happening.

Ok, random question, do pigs shed? I've encountered or at least seen references to shedding dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, etc. but I've never come across or even seen refences to shedding pigs.

We went back out the park where the wild donkeys and feral cattle hang out, and we were in a different area and earlier, so we didn't run into any donkeys, but there were a ton of hoofprints, including these teeny tiny little baby hoofprints.

(That's my mom's hand for a size reference)
We did see some cattle a little ways off to the side of the path though. They went by to fast to get pictures though.
We usually only hear one bray in the hour or so we're out there, but this time they were going off over and over again, and we at least three different groups. It kind of made us start to wonder if something was wrong, but they were pretty far away, so we couldn't get to them or anything/
And they also put this sign up by the gate you go through to get out into the open desert.

I pet some of the horses at the stables this morning, and oh my god, I felt sorry for one of them at one point. This was three that I've pet before, and one isn't interested in me, but the other two let me pet them. While we up by the fence, the third one just kept grazing along the fence, and it kept shoving it's way between the fence and the other two. The two kept their heads down a little bit so I was just petting their foreheads, and while I was doing that to one of the friendlier ones, the third one went to shove past, and lifted their head, and slammed the top of it into bottom jaw of the one I was petting, and it actually made this really loud thud. I just cringed and I felt so bad, and laughed a little, cause it was kind of a Three Stooges slapstick moment. It had to hurt, it was a big thud.:scream:
