I loved Amazing Race Asia 1, and China Rush, but I really didn't care for the later editions of Asia, as the racers seemed to play the camera more then any season of the US version. In general I hate that.

In most of the seasons the team that finished 2nd is actually the stronger team (less so in recent years), and I would love a season of all great racers, but the producers would never, ever go there.
Yeah, they seem to like casting the idiotic and (borderline) abusive racers. Great racers don't create enough "drama."

Asia 4 doesn't seem to bad. I think part of it is that they have celebrities and "party people" who want the fame. But then again, AR US sometimes will cast attention whores as well.
Very True Firehawk and its I often feel that really hurts the show.
THis season is actually my favorite in a long while (going back to season 10) as it seems to be filled with people who aren't fighting with each other and other teams (I really don't like that), people that are for the most part racing hard, and its had more thinking tasks ( I love that), as well as up to this point I have liked all the tasks except the boxing ring roadblock (where no one boxed).

Oh and season 18 started today in LA.
I still don't know who is racing? But this is what I have had for a while. Comments in Bold where what a tracking site source was told, and shared with me). THis was based off the fact that we were told casting included seasons 12 and up (and before we ever saw any of the actually racing from the current season, even though we knew all but one team in season 17). The producers have over the last 3 years really pushed conflict between teams, they have gotten rid of teams sharing extended Pit Stops as groups touring cities, they keep teams separated during Pit Stops (that used to never happen), all basically designed to keep teams from forming friendships (which is pretty damn shitty in my opinion). So working on the season limits 12-17, working on the idea of getting conflict between teams this is what I had speculated on.

Hopefully in the next 3 days we will have confirmed list of racers (though I don't know if I will post it, clearly if I do it would be hidden as spoilers). And hopefully unlike last all stars we wont get a complete bootlist, that was 100% accurate.

Ok, I have to ask. How do you know so much about this show. Do you:
1) Stalk anyone who works on the show, especially Phil?
2) Work for the Show and CBS?

Theres a rather dedicated group of TAR stalkers, and they share data. Since joining the site, I have yet to see them be wrong about anything they state as fact (except specific tasks have been in error). People often end up quoting speculation that they have (which as speculation can be wrong, for example one thing speculated that I haven't had verified is that out of seasons 12-17 one season didn't have anybody cast in all stars, since we have live sightings of one team from 12, one team from 14, and one team from 17 if that speculation is correct I should know soon.
But luckily some one on staff has to leak some info, the rest is done be people tracking things, like facebook, myspace, blogs, going to the airport to see who leaves (I've done this) then going over every tweet, message board posts, locals photos of people, ect.
For example I remember one leg in season 13 (the russian leg where Toni & Dallas get eliminated) and there was a photo that a tourist took that showed Phil and crew at teh matt (no racers), but the photo included a shot of a persons shirt, that shirt had a university logo on it, using that data they tracked down the person who took the photo (who is actually a journalists or journalist student) and once they traced her down was able to get eye witness reports of the racers (she was asked after he first photo not to take more, but she was allowed to watch off from a distance). She even wrote a article about being stalked by the site.
Another great example (and a terrible one at the same time) the week of the season finale for season ten, one of the stalkers used shadows from the breasts of the racers running towards the finish line to determine the ending (and roughly how much time separated them, since a local had given them a rough idea of the finish line, and with the preview they got the specific spot). But that same night people were tracking the progress of All Stars and a they discovered that teams would be arriving in Kuala Lumpur, so they got together as a small group and stalked the international arrivals and followed them the entire leg, got great pictures. The part that sucked, was that group (being fans) helped the team they liked the most due the roadblock, not to mention gave great directions offered money (don't know if they took it), ect. But they also got a to see a clip board that had the order of teams that had been eliminated, with that and one other leak they were able to determine the full boot order of the season literally the day thhey stopped filming.
If you get a full list of the cast soon I would definitely like to see it. I don't mind knowing who will be on the show, especially in an All-Stars season where we already know everyone. I guess the only spoilers I really dislike are the boot lists, as knowing who will be going each week really makes watching the episodes pointless for me. The fun is in the anticipation and unpredictability, and with that gone I'm just watching people run around stressed out with big backpacks on.
Anyway, I haven't gone back and looked at all of the past racers that I'd like to see again, but two teams that stick out as favorites that I would love to see back are Toni and Dallas, and Mark and Bill. I actually got to meet up with Toni and Dallas as he went to the same university as my boyfriend and we were both there for an event on campus. It was right after the race so they actually answered questions for an hour or two in front of a nice auditorium full of people. They had some really fascinating information, I just wish I could remember it all!
And yes, he looks even better in person. And he's got a great sense of humor, just like his mom.

See I like to figure out who racing and where they are going, but I hate, hate getting boot lists, really really hate it. Its one of the reasons I was so disappointed by All Stars.
The only bad thing about this season is all the teams I hate have been booted off so all the remaining teams I like are still around so I don't care who wins.
I have the opposite problem. 
I really don't care for anyone who is left so I don't care who wins. The team I dislike most, though, Nick and Vikki, I REALLY hope they don't win. If you don't even know how a Fast Forward works you certainly don't deserve to win the race.

I honestly don't get the teams that don't use the U-Turn when they have the chance. Honestly, it's part of the damn game. Take and use anything you can to your advantage. Doesn't matter if you do it to a team 6 hours behind you. In this race, every moment counts. *

I generally, how shall I put it, absolutely hate the Yield and U-Turn. I think its the worst thing this show has ever done. Win loss or draw, it should be based on your ability, not by being bale to hamper other teams. In fact in any other part of the race, your hampering an other team (in a way that actually causes you to either can an advantage or causes them to fall being is against rules and if production finds out about it you get penalties. It turns the show into something nasty. I HATE it..
