I was curious, and from pictures I can see it, but I know so many people who are what I would call "so gay". But of course being gay, I do understand.

^Same here. It's helpful to know what to look for. ;)

And he was hi-larious on Pushing Daisies - though I've no desire at all to see Nacho Libre.

The Cheese task was great. Took the redneck to figure out how to do it the fastest (though I wondered about just purposely rolling them downhill, faster than scooting along on your butt)

Redneck wife is going to get that team eliminated next week I bet.

Pretty good bet. I love Luke and Margie. I also like Mark and Michael(the stunt brothers). The cheese task had my wife and I rolling on the floor laughing. Loved the jump as well. Off to a good start this year.

I was wondering about that as well. I wonder if the additional information had some rule that you had to use the carriers (if it came loose after that it was cool).

Because otherwise I would be bowling with cheese.

I watched it last night, but didn't really focus too much on it and I was on the phone. I did have it recorded on DVR so I just saw it now and it was a great start. I like the better flow to the show, even though I hope there is more driving by the players themselves than with taxis and trains. The cheese task was awesome and hilarious.

As for my favorite teams thus far, I like Luke/Margie (Sentimental favorite), Mark/Micheal, and Tammy and Victor. I don't like Steve and Linda because Steve reminded me of Johnathen from many seasons back. Hopefully this is a start of great things this season.

I also liked the new intro and graphics. Nice to see The Amazing Race try to remain fresh with that.

Yeah, she's pretty worthless. About the only way the Rednecks will stay in the game is if another team royally screws up.

Anyway, great start to the season. The cheese task was hilarious.

Kind of surprised the flight attendents were the ones to make the mistake at the train station of looking at the departure times instead of the arrival times.

Loved the new graphics, Mark and Michael & Luke and mom. This was really a photograph finish, i wonder why that couple didnt run as fast as they could!

I really liked the pace, it was a much better premiere than Survivor

Finally watched it. Great start! I'll echo comments about the pace of the episode being great, and the cheese task was hilarious.

Was anyone else :wtf:ing at the flight attendants decision to take rolling luggage with them? Great for airports and train stations, sure, but it seems pretty clunky for a lot of the situations on the race. And what if one of the wheels breaks or gets gummed up? Weird move.

I didn't even notice the rolling luggage.. that isn't the smartest move but then from what i saw their insider travel smarts is going to be how to get good seats for the flight home.

Yeah, it should be automatic for any team in the AR to ask what the earliest arrival time of any train/plane will be...NOT "What is the first departure?"

The FA rolling bags is an interesting choice, but it will suck dragging them across the grass, cobblestone streets, up stairs, etc. (and I can tell you, most female FAs will curl up in ball when confronted with a set of stairs and no elevator to bring their luggage up to upper floors ;) ).

Why is redneck wife in the race? Really. Sure, everybody wants to do the Race. If you're going to apply though, at least be able to run a little bit and do some physical stuff. You're going to have to do a lot of that the entire race. If you can't run much at all, you're not going to have much of a chance.

The mother/son were great, I liked the stunt guys, and I definitely recognized Mike White when I saw him (though I couldn't remember from where). It was great skipping all the "getting to the first airport" stuff, and the cheese task was definitely hilarious.

I do get what the deaf son means about showing what he can do, but come on. "Nobody would think a deaf person could finish in the top four" - really? I thought a deaf person could. I thought a deaf person could finish first. Maybe a few closed-minded people would think they couldn't do anything, but most people I know wouldn't think a deaf person would necessarily be terrible at any task, save for hearing.

On the luggage, some of those (I had to check) actually can be backpacks as well, that would be the only smart reasons to have them, because so much of the race isn't on smooth hard surface. Of course we will have to wait and see if that is one of those or the more standard type.

On Luke, apparently he has tried for years to get on the show and apparently all his friends are the ones who told him he couldn't do it.

Interesting that with much of the travel aspect of this leg edited out (which is apparently something they are trying this season to show more of the actual activities), the team that got eliminated got eliminated for a compound problem.

Unlike the first flight, they actually had to take cabs to the train station, theirs took them to the wrong place, not only is this the reason they were last to the city (not a huge issue), but it also took a lot more money to pay for the cab. When they finished the cheese task and went to the area of the Pit Stop, they didn't have enough money to pay the cab. They spent (what they say was about 45 minutes) begging for enough money before deciding to just take the penalty (which they do have if you refuse to pay the drivers), its why after they saw the blond team, they realized that even if they beat them to the mat they would be eliminated, so thats when he carried her.

They said their problem was being to fast out of their plane and into any cab, they got one with a driver that didn't speak english and of course that began a chain of events that they couldn't overcome.

Not an unusual problem but one that usually happens in countries were english isn't know well at all.

Interesting. I was kind of wondering why there wasn't a mad dash for the mat between those last two teams. Too bad they didn't show any of the taxi/money problems, but I guess editing it the way they did kept the illusion of a close finish.

Is it wrong that I am laughing out loud at them at the cheese task?

My husband always watches this show and I usually just kind of casually watch but the cheese task thing, I was LMAO!!! :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

I don't think I have EVER laughed so hard while watching this show!! I mean, those things would have killed an animal if it hit it!!:eek:

On first glance, it looked like a regular roller bag (since they're FAs, it would make sense they might want to take their old faithfuls), but it would be smarter to use the rolling backpack ones.

On Luke, apparently he has tried for years to get on the show and apparently all his friends are the ones who told him he couldn't do it.

He needs to find new friends then. Nothing like hooking up with people who tell you that you can't do this or that.

Interesting to hear all that happened there. I like seeing more of the tasks, but on the other hand, there's a lot of information missing that explains how a team ended up getting eliminated.

This just shows why every episode should be 2 hours :D

Speaking of that, I wish they went back to making the first and last show more of an event than your typical episode. Those two hour episodes were great because then you did get airport drama and they don't feel like they rush through the tasks. For a show that always wins the emmy, I wish CBS would make it bigger than they do at least for a few episodes.

Totally agree. Having only one hour premieres and finales sucks a bit of the "epicness" of the start and finish to the race.
