The Ahsoka series is coming.

I've always thought it was a little unfair to directly hold either 'Clone Wars' or 'Rebels' up as being "better" than the other. They both have their strengths and their weaknesses, but they're also both very different animals trying to do very different things.

Clone Wars is an anthology show where the only real star, is the setting itself. As such it could tell almost any kind of story with limitless scope and significance. Rebels was an serialised arc show that told more personal stories against a larger backdrop, and the cast were very much the stars. As a result, while Rebels arguably didn't reach the same heights as Clone Wars, it didn't reach it's depths either and consequently was a much more even and consistent show. Clone Wars could be rough at times, but that's what happens when one takes big swings, and you don't get the truly stellar material without said big swings.

One thing they both have in common however is that both shows get consistently and exponentially better overall with each season. That to me is the real hallmark of a great show, as opposed to those that start strong, but just sort of tail off over time, or fall apart altogether at the end.

Whichever one prefers is entirely subjective. Honestly, I go back and forth.

So am I. I'm continuously surprised by the number of people I see here who don't like Rebels. I'm watching it again right now and I love it even more the second time around.
Really? I watched the first two seasons of Rebels, and it wasn't good.

(warning: lots of swears)

I liked it enough. Not perfect and I found it slipping a bit in the fourth season but overall I felt it was a good show.

Always loved it. Thought it was a far better story than the early Clone Wars episodes and DEFINITELY better in almost every measurable way to the insipid "Resistance" (IMO, of course). It's always nice when Star Wars lore occasionally inserts a few Rebels Easter Eggs into the mix (Kanan's voice, Chopper, Ghost, Hera's name being called over a loudspeaker, and so on). Some of Filoni's best work appeared in that show.

I really hope they someday do a continuation series for it, or at the very least a mini-series.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm always utterly convinced by any counterargument that entirely consists of posting links to some random whiney youtube rant! Yup, why have critical thinking, or opinions as your own when you can just fire someone else's bullshit at people instead? Plus as every one knows, a grating diatribe in a video essay format makes it "official" and utterly unassailable, so it's not like it's validity as objective fact can ever be seriously questioned!

I always looked at Ahsoka as more of a Clone Wars character than Rebels (despite her later involvement as Fulcrum). I guess I never saw this show as much of a continuation of Rebels as others do. I suppose if we see the return of Ezra, Hera and Zeb (and maybe a spectral image of Kanan) as regular characters (as opposed to recurring guest roles) than I will happily concede that point. :) Right now I'm only seeing Ezra on IMDB, however.

There's really no such thing as a "Clone Wars character" or a "Rebels character" anymore than there are "movie characters" and "streaming show characters". They're all just Star Wars characters.

Also, this show is explicitly picking up the last two lingering major threads from that show's finale AND all but one of the surviving main characters are confirmed to be in it. Kinda hard for it NOT to feel like a continuation.

resistance was just awful with no redeeming feature whatsoever. It really befuddles me that filoni misfired that way.
Lies! Flix and Orka are by far the best married couple in all of Star Wars! (A low bar to clear I know, but still!)

^^^ Is that the one where Mace Windu pulls all the connecting bolts out of a battle droid with the force? And we see the origin of his purple lightsaber? If so, I kind of liked that one.

Very true. Hadn't looked at it that way before, but you're right. They do seem to be pulling together a lot of the older storylines. Curious if we'll see some live-action "Bad Batch" characters pop up too.
