The aesthetic of the post-Nemesis Trek Universe

So it's been revealed that 'The Picard Project' will take place 20 years post-Nemesis.

We've seen interpretations in fan media and of course Online, but if we do see Starfleet uniforms and ships, what do you think they'll look like?

I don't expect much difference from Discovery, however some have commented that the look is similar to the Kelvin Timeline.

Enterprise looked more TNG-like than pre-TOS because it recycled the same creative team from the TNG shows. So we can expect lots of Kelvin/Discovery-isms here. Pulse phasers, bumpy hyperspace-jump-like warp travel, lens-flare, shaky-cam, etc...

It would take someone high up to make a very firm and deliberate decision to change the look for this show, but so much of CBS' approach seems to be paint-by-numbers with the assumption that "kids these days want things to look like X with fast-action pew-pew" that I don't see a return to lumbering tall-ships.

Kinda the sameish shapes and colours as always, just slightly different, like they do every time they make a new show.

I wonder if they will decide to use the gap to bring Trek back into line with modern science fiction - more obvious transhumanism, the use of power armour (see for example the expanse), AI ships, nanotechnology etc.

They've hinted it'll be a more personal story, so I'd say if people are expecting it to be a future technology showcase they might be in for a disappointment.

I'm pretty sure they'll just redress the USS Discovery bridge with two extra chairs and a cutaway of the ship behind the captain's chair to stand in for the Enterprise-E (or -F or whatever) in The Picard Show

You're presuming the Picard show takes place on a Starship here. I'm doubtful of that.

I hope they go somewhere new, and most importantly not too militaristic. We've seen that look 1000 times on Star Trek and every other show. I really like the bridge set of the Prometheus in Message in a Bottle. I know it was probably just a redress of the "every ship that is not the hero ship" that started life as the movie 1701, but the light greys were nice, without being as hotel lounge as some of TNG. A bigger budget version of this sort of look for Starfleet decor would make me happy.

With all the dark metal business of Disco, it would be good to see something sleek, minimal and futuristic.

You're presuming the Picard show takes place on a Starship here. I'm doubtful of that.

I'm sure a ship will feature at some point - and if said ship isn't needed for the show's entire run it's all the more reason to redress a set than create something expensive from scratch.

the only post nemesis ship we've seen, not counting alternate timelines that probably did not happen, is the Jellyfish thing Spock had. On the other hand if it's not a huge starship he has, maybe just a captain's yacht, or taking a passenger liner, maybe they could go for a kind of luxurious look they've never went for before. Wooden starship! Steampunk starship. Whatever they do, I suspect they'll keep the aesthetic different from Discovery.

An Enterprise would probably make an appearance. Could be commanded by a Captain Worf or maybe Major Hayes inherits the captaincy.

The Enterprise-F likely has an entirely different crew. Even if it's still the E, it would have to. No ship has a standing crew that many years. And she'll be refitted heavily again.

It's much too soon to have any idea what the new show will be. Don't get your hopes up, and you won't be disappointed.

There was a big difference between the original series and the first movie and the movie only took place a few years after the series. This will be 20 years later so it will probably look a lot different.
