The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

Anybody here got any firsthand experience and opinions about the characters in the new Captain America: The Winter Soldier figure line?

I haven't picked up any of the 3 3/4" figures, but seen them in stores, and they're all pretty meh. I posted pics of the 6" collector aimed figures a few weeks ago. They're all really great, though the unmasked sculpts for Cap and Winter Soldier are letdowns. Black Widow makes up for it by coming with sculpts in both Avengers and TWS hair styles, so she can fit in with the 6" Avengers figures that for some reason never had a Black Widow made for it.

Ah, thanks. Appreciate that. I don't collect much outside of Star Wars but the movie's been getting such incredible reviews that I was wondering if the retail figures and other collectibles were of similar quality.

Part 3 of Captain Britain's welcome to the Shelf Avengers. He's recovered from the Dalek attack. Now he meets the rest of the gang:

Took a garden tour:

Saw some more reminders of home:

And had some ice cream.

He was happy until he saw my Excalibur comics..."Meggan! Waaaaaaaahhhh! I wanna go home."

Sorry, hon. She doesn't exist in plastic form. :(

So, after seeing Captain America: The Winter Soldier, I just have to ask: Where's my Falcon action figure, Hasbro? Seriously, how could you not make a figure of one of the coolest characters in the movie?

I'm debating about getting the Marvel Select Falcon...I am pretty sure the Marvel Legends head dude said something about the possibility of more six inch figures down the line for the infinite series...but I could be misremembering that.

Just one more Captain Britain getting used to his new surroundings post...he meets my cat, Rory.

No, Rory, we do not try to knock Captain Britain's head off!

Gloriously geeky. Love it!

In my own toy escapades, I picked up another Saga Legends Stormtrooper a little earlier today at my local Target. Still no sign of the new Wave 3 of the six-inch Black Series characters.

My Funko Pop! Black Widow is here! Mini Muggs Clint approves.

My "Clintasha" shelf- with the duplicate (LMD?) Tasha and Clint figures.

Now I'm just waiting for my Funko Pop! Coulson to arrive.

As I promised… here are some pictures of my new Hot Toys Captain America. From the moment I opened the cardboard shipping carton and saw the beautifully luminous figure box inside I knew I was in trouble. As for the figure… holy shit. I think I may have cried when I saw it for the first time.

He just looks so majestic and the costume is jaw-dropping.

The face is amazingly lifelike. The eyes actually look like eyes, with moisture and everything.

Details, details, details! I have spent years designing clothes and sewing but I have no idea how someone sewed all of this without going blind.

This is a size comparison. The smaller figure is the Diamond Select Captain America which stands at seven inches tall. The Hot Toys Captain America is exactly twelve inches tall and towers over the other.

Needless to say I am seriously thinking about investing in more of these. I think I am going to track down the Christopher Reeve Superman next. WANT.

No simple words can express how utterly cool that Captain America is. Wax statues of celebs and characters don't look that nice. Congrats on owning such a fine piece!

KM, your Clintasha display is adoralde. :D

Astrosmurf, Man is that Cap impressive. I almost don't even see why they need to release a new version when they seem to have nailed it with the first. I love the Hot Toys stuff that I own, and pics like that make me have second thoughts about moving away from buying them.

^ I think the new version comes with a removable helmet and more accessories. But now that I have a taste of this particular line... I want MORE. This may end badly for me. :rommie:

AstroSmurf, that is one awesome figure. Wish I could afford all of the Hot Toys!

OdoWan, thanks! But it won't be complete until I have the Winter Soldier Tasha. Still looking, no luck. :(

Did Hasbro even bother to make a Tasha for the newest Captain America figure line? I haven't seen a picture of her if she exists.
