The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

Alright. I've been waiting to shoot this part from the very beginning:

The rest of this thread is going to go into such a deep withdrawal when this strip ends. Don't leave us hanging cold turkey, bro. :)

In other news, Wave 3 of the Black Series (3.75") seems to be showing up more regularly at Walmarts, at least the ones in my area. I just saw all of the new Wave 3 characters except Plagueis and Mace Windu, so that's something I guess.

Still no sign of Wave 3 of the 6" figures (Stormtrooper, Bespin Luke, ROTS Obi-Wan) anywhere.

I'll try, but I can never top this.

While I've been making up most of the story as I go along, Thor vs. Enthralled Luke is something I've had planned since the very start. I'm glad to finally get here, and am surprised nobody picked up on what Loki was really doing when he "cured" Luke. My next update may not be the fight, though. We've still got the matter of the dying Doctor McCoy, the kidnapped captain, and a Vulcan vs a God.

Aw, Luke. :( He's turned to the Loki side.

Got one of my new (old) comic collections in today, and Clint is not impressed:

"You seem to have forgotten my commandment- thou shalt not read any comics other than Hawkeye!"

(to which Pete Wisdom says "Sod off, ya circus freak!" before using his fire powers to burn Clint's bow and arrows)

Also, Sad Hawkeye is now a doll. Clint approves of his new friend.

It's not the first time Luke's dipped in the pool of the Dark Side. Methinks OdoWan will have a cool twist waiting for us.

Also: :techman: to new Clintventures!

Clint has already threatened to hit my comic book with an explosive arrow. I need to get a Captain Britain figure (alas, no Pete Wisdom figure exists) to fight with him. They didn't get along too well in Secret Avengers...

Clint isn't jealous of my new comic books. He's actually grossed out. "Mom, why are you reading this dirty stuff?" (It's Rudiments of Wisdom from Marvel MAX, so it's naughtier than usual Marvel...)

Um, Clint. You aren't exactly pure yourself:

"Oh, carry on then." And Pete Wisdom again tells him to sod off. (he just had kinky mutant human/fairy sex, he doesn't really care what Hawkeye thinks!)

I wish Wisdom was a popular enough character to have an action figure made of him. He and Tasha would get along so well...spies and assassins.

I did something stupid. Well, maybe not stupid but it could be thought of as frivolous. Spending so many years as a starving artist taught me you put money in savings instead of throwing it around like it grows on trees. Anyway, I tracked down and bought a Hot Toys Captain America, the one in the 1940's era costume. I have been wanting one for a while now and I got my tax return. I am so excited I could scream.

I was just thinking: next year marks the 20th Anniversary of the modern Star Wars action figure era. The very first Power of the Force 2 figures on orange/red cardbacks were released in 1995 and it's been a steady and sometimes torrential overflow of figures in the two decades since, fueled heavily by the three Prequels and the recent Clone Wars series.

I wonder if Hasbro will plan anything special to mark the occasion before or in conjunction with the worldwide launch of merchandise from Episode VII. The classic Kenner Era lasted less than eight full years (1978-85) and during that timeframe barely 100 different action figures were released....the number since '95 must easily be around two thousand and that doesn't include the pack-in figures often included as a bonus with ships, vehicles and other large items such as playsets.

Which one...there are actually 4 in a WWII era costumes.

Captain America: TFA Standard Cap Costume
Captain America: TFA USO Cap Costume
Captain America: TFA Rescue Uniform
Captain America: TWS Modified Standard Cap Uniform

I'm pretty sure that's just a Clone officer with sandy hair that was artificially colored like that. Jango Fett clones have the original template's black hair unless they shave their heads or dye their hair a different color.

^ My thoughts exactly. :techman: The one I snatched up (in box, never opened) was for an excellent price. Now if someone would just sell off their 1989 Batman and Joker for a great price I would like to have them too.
