The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

I'm going to end up with 18 by the end of the year...if I get Melody for my birthday and Rebecca for Christmas. :p

And I have 40 of the mini dolls. This is 20 years of collecting, by the way! :p

Hey who was buying the Chighur Astrotrain? Did you end up getting it? What's it like?

Transistor finally arrived. Yay......... Pictures soon

New boxed images of the 3.75" Takodana Encounter multipack from The Force Awakens featuring the very first action figure of Maz Kanata in any scale. The three other figures are repacks with slight paint variations from their original releases and Rey comes with both Anakin's and Luke's lightsaber as well as the unlit lightsaber hilt that can be stored inside Maz's wooden chest.

Picked up two new action figures over the weekend - War Machine from Avengers: Age of Ultron, part of the Hulkbuster Build-a--Figure series, and Venom, part of the Absorbing Man Build-a-Figure series.

War Machine includes an alternate head, with the facemask open and the Hulkbuster helmet piece.

Venom has an alternate head and alternate hands and two heads for Absorbing Man.

I like the lightsabers that came with SW figures back around the time of the prequel trilogy; metal hilts with detachable blades.

Anyway, for my idea of doing scenes with Marvel and Star Wars characters... I compared the figures, and it seems that the Marvel ones tend to be about half a head to a full head taller than the Star Wars guys, even though they're supposed to be the same scale. So I think they would look a little odd together.

count yourself lucky. Venom (and Spider Gwen) are hard to come by. scalpers usually get to those first.

I recently purchased a two-foot high A L I E N action figure from Oldies.com.
His little brother from ALIENS is eight inches tops. Plus, his leg's temporarily severed.

Aaaaawww poor thing needs medical help.

I have the Alien figures from ID4 and didn't realize how big they were. They're quite big..

Maybe I should go back & get the Spider Gwen figure I saw the other day...
if you have any interest in the character or figure then i would go back. its going for $30-40 on ebay. everytime i encounter this wave Venom and Gwen are always missing.

I only have a few Star Trek novelties--I largely enjoy collecting the Attack Wing figures just for their aesthetic value. I also have an early 70s phaser game that still works which some might know about.

OH YEAH...........Now that's what I want a rolling locomotive of death.

As soon as I get my Megatron I might consider this as I missed out on the Transistor version of Blaster.

Seemed to be only a limited run too "sadface"

OK I don't recommend this guy at all. I have no idea what the Astratrain figure Chighur is like but after buying this for almost $150 AU dollars I am not that enthused about buying the other one. It is fine as its robot mode. In fact that mode is fantastic.

But trying him as his alt mode was a pain in the fooking ass........ None of the panels would lock into place or line up properly. Yes I know 3rd party figure. But geez it took nearly an hour to get it into alt mode and even then it just didn't look as nice as any promotional photos would have you believe.

So no I don't think I'll be getting the Astrotrain any time soon.

Pictures follow

The changed thing looks nice though, despite all the hassle!

Yesterday's Arrow episode had our heroes stupidly keeping a magic idol that gives one superpowers around so the bad guy(s) could easily get it. Here's my idea how the whole thing could have gone differently:

^ I can't help but like that comic........... It just made me laugh.

Thanks for the comment on Blaster. I know it's not an official figure but geez would it have been so hard to design it so it actually changes smoothly?

Aww, thank you! Making people smile or laugh is my goal in life :D

Will you leave him like that forever now or do you intend to change him back some day?

Kirk who is not Kirk but William Shatner actually and I had fun in my lunchbreak yesterday. Nearby where I work we have this great park and it gave me some interesting locations:

He's back in robot mode. That one at least looks decent and stands pretty well on a desk. Just so disappointing spending so much money on a figure to have such a result from using it the way it's supposed to be used and the result's not being as expected.

I made a little bookcase out of a jewelry box for my mini AG books:

I've also added tiny accessories to my mini doll displays of Julie and Rebecca:
