The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

I found one of the new 2-packs of 3.75" figures from The Force Awakens the other day! The Sidon Ithano/First Mate Quiggold 2-pack that is in the latest wave assortment of those figures.

Lovely accessories as always @Kira's Mom!

That looks dangerous @LordMudd !

A while ago a co-worker of my brother asked me if I wanted a figure for free. The hand was broken and I could easily glue it. I have become a sanctuary for unwanted figures now!
I had no idea who this figure was but the more I looked at him the more I realized that I HAVE seen it before. When Richard Dean Anderson was in Ireland and promoted a video game. Funny how life runs in circles sometimes!

I always had wanted to do a similar picture like that with RDA. Unfortunately, they don't match in size.

Here's how I cheat:

So I could at least do this pose:

But would have loved this - Jack also sadly can't put his arm sideways, no ballpoint shoulder joint:

I spent part of the weekend in Williamsburg, VA. I had two stowaways- mini AGs Felicity and Elizabeth. They wanted to see their "hometown". :p

Also, I went to a Build-A-Bear outlet and picked up two outfits:
Emma Louise as Merida! Her wig is ordered and should be here this week.

Hello Kitty as Batgirl! The mask doesn't really work for her. The dress fits the AG dolls, too.

Two very cute souvenirs from Colonial Williamsburg- a Boyd's Bear and a mini doll.

The Merida dress is quite nice and the last picture is just cute! I love the white and blue colors. So pretty.

I bought a Jack Bauer a while ago but never showed any pictures. It's a well done figure with lots of details. Lots of nice accessories also which always make me happy. They can be taken apart to save space. I keep him in his original box for now but if I run out of space I wonder if he would mind moving in with Indiana Jones?

The earpiece even has a wire and you can take off the bag. Not sure what the holster is for as you can't put the weapon in.

Finally a figure that can hold its weapon with both hands. None of the others can turn their arms inside far enough for that. He's not good for many other poses though, having no knee or elbow joints. He can swivel at the hip, and he can turn his head, arms at the shoulders and also the hands. But the face is very nice.

Overall a great figure that fits in size with some of my others. Maybe one day Captain Kirk will get rescued by Jack Bauer? Doesn't look so good for Sherlock or the Doctor, though. Sorry! ;)

That is a thing of beauty ........... Is there going to be an American movie of this?
There's a fairly rare set of 4 episodes available that aired in 1994 but they were legal issues and the series wasn't finished. The animation, using Mead's designs was more detailed and elaborate than most at the time.

The episodes can be found here:

The mechanical design is amazing:

In trying to find other uses for Jack Bauer's special gun pose, someone suggested "pulling". So now he and Kirk are on a tug of war:

Found Wasp, Giant Man, Bulldozer, Tiger Shark & Grim Reaper from last year's Ant-Man action figure series on clearance for just $10 each at Wal-Mart over the weekend. And since I picked up the Scott Lang Ant-Man up last year, I'll be able to finish the Ultron build-a-figure.

I also picked up the Walgreens' exclusives of Daredevil (first appearance, with the yellow & brown costume) and Eric O'Grady Ant-Man. Daredevil included the stick weapon that can me joined into a staff and alternate Matt Murdock head. The fourth Ant-Man didn't have any accessories.

Today is the Shakespeare 400 celebration, and I want to show the Hamlet story a friend and I did with figures from Doctor Who, Torchwood and Primeval. It is a re-creation of the version of Hamlet David Tennant did some years ago.

Hamlet in the far right corner watches the festivities with sadness.
Let me introduce all the people. On the left side we do have the two ambassadors. In the middle Ophelia in the yellow dress, Hamlet's mother Gertrude in blue and his uncle Claudius at her side, behind him old Polonius and some servant girl in the background.
And on the right side Ophelia's brother Laertes, the Cardinal (or Bishop?) in Red robe and some nameless servant.

The next scene shows friend Horatio welcomed by Hamlet with a big hug:

Horatio and a soldier are with Hamlet when late at night the ghost of his father appears to him and tells him that he was murdered:

He lets them swear on the sword to help him avenge his father.

Next scene: Hamlet reads a book, and Polonius gets the impression that he is crazy/nuts/one fry short of a happy meal/WACKO.
Note that he wears a bandage around his hand now!

Because his whole family thinks Hamlet is crazy, they invite his friends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to try and talk some sense in them. This is the scene of their first meeting:

Hamlet is in love with Ophelia, the daughter of Polonius:

Actors were invited, to do a play about a similar murder:

Hamlet is angry at his mother for marrying so soon after his father’s death:

Polonius was hiding behind the mirror and accidentally gets shot by Hamlet:

At midnight he sees the ghost of his father again.

Hamlet comes back from England. He takes a break at a cemetery but does not know that the grave is for Ophelia. He finds a skull: “Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio.”

Laertes wants to revenge his sister’s death. Hamlet and Laertes start to fence:

Laertes wounds Hamlet while he is turns his back:

Hamlet realizes that the sword was poisoned. He hits Laertes with his own poisoned sword.

Hamlet’s mother Gertrud drinks the poisoned drink, Claudius had poisened it in case Hamlet won the sword fight. He actually warns her not to drink but she does it anyway:

Then she falls down and dies.

Hamlet forces Claudius to drink the poison as well:

Gertrud, Claudius and Laertes are dead:

Hamlet dies in the arms of Horatio. „The rest is silence.“

The End
