The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

Astra, your Doctors are hilarious!
Thanks! Not sure I should tell them though ;)

Loving the 12 Days so far, OdoWan!
Indeed, I love coming here every day and look at the new picture! There is so much going on in the background, I take my time to look at it all properly.

I think I have a pretty good idea what Jack is thinking. ;)
Yeah, he’s very easy to read… I have another story where he does some more “thinking”. I wasn’t sure at first whether it would be appropriate to post, but then again it’s nothing we haven’t seen on screen before… So here goes:

I have somehow become a sanctuary for unwanted figures. So this guy (from Thunderbirds) was sent to me recently. He even brought a letter with him:

And then this happened (the background is something I drew myself)

He has problems standing on his own, the knees are very loose:

His jumpsuit was a bit dirty so I let Ianto wash it:

I picked up the Elite Series Die Cast Boba Fett from the Disney Store yesterday, he is simply stunning in person. This is the next to last in the series. All that is left is the mysterious one being released on Friday, December 18th. I'm hoping for Luke from The Force Awakens.

That's the first packaged copy I've seen. He's cool! And he's clearly Boba as he appears in The Empire Strikes Back so that'll make a lot of fans and collectors happy. Congratulations on scoring him so soon! He'll probably be very popular and sell out fast.

Each Disney Store only receives a handful of the dolls and you enter a lottery to hopefully get one. Basically, you have to show up at noon and show your ID and enter the lottery. Show back up at 1pm, where they draw names. For Boba Fett they only got 8 of them, I was lucky number 7. A few didn't get one this time.

Actually, that's Return of the Jedi Fett for sure. The ESB gauntlets were green.

That's the worst freaking thing I've ever heard. It's creating artificial scarcity for the sake of it.

No 12 days today. Sorry. Life is just not giving me the time. I'll be back with one tomorrow.

The paint jobs on some of these toys and collectibles are a little too faint and sometimes the fabric of his jumpsuit under his armor is colored incorrectly for a specific film. You may be right. Even when you think you've got the right movie the manufacturer may refer to him as being from the other one.

And yes, that is a very crappy and inefficient way to let customers buy a new figure or collectible. These are Disney Store exclusives. You should get enough of a supply on the first day of availability to let everyone who wants one get one.

And the conclusion...

(Note: I fixed the buttons indeed. It was only held together with a paper clip, but I glued in the snap buttons)

And this is the third time around!

Director's note: I don't put dialogue in these, but if I did Red Robin would be yelling to WWII Cap "Stop! He's the Red Hood, not the Red Skull!"

Glorious, dude. It's so much fun seeing each new entry and the new photos.

In other toy news, I finally found the new Kmart-exclusive 6" Black Series Kylo Ren (Starkiller Base) with the snow-covered base, boots and lower robe. It costs five bucks more than the regular 6-inch figures but the box is wider and bigger, has a red backdrop featuring forest trees and you get a lot of plastic in the package for a Black Series figure. You also get two lightsabers with this Kylo figure, one lit (and a completely new sculpt that's slightly different from the previous 6" release) and one unlit hilt.

My various Star Wars Hot Wheels. The Falcon is on my desk and isn't in this photo.

I've seen some of those in stores. They're really well detailed for such small toys. I wound up grabbing the Falcon myself. I think I'm going to have to have a little self control to not pick up the rest. They look great.

I love the miniature BTTF2 hoverboard in the upper right corner of the photo. Is the die-cast car next to it a DeLorean?
