The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

The distribution for the Movie Masters has been odd. On the street date in Des Moines, there was only one WalMart/Target/Toys R Us in the whole city that was carrying them. Maybe stores got burned by all of the leftover Dark Knight Rises stuff they still have, and didn't order much Man of Steel?

I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happened in your area. That's what happened in most parts of the country with newer 2012 Star Wars product, after all. Stores felt burnt and screwed over by the blizzard of Episode I 3-D merchandise and didn't bother to order many if any case assortments of newer waves and figures for months and months.

One stinkbomb turd of an action figure assortment and some retailers get skittish about stocking any of the new and better stuff.

Just about an hour ago, I walked into my local Target just down the road from my house and finally saw the Hot Wheels USS Enterprise.

There were four of 'em lined up in a row on the pegs like cute lil' ducks, but there may have been five originally. I think someone ahead of me took one, and I took one, but I wouldn't be surprised if the remaining three ships were all gone by now.

As promised, Cinco de Mayo shenanigans.

No, Hulk. Don't smash the pinata while Thor is riding it.

Clint and Tasha enjoy margaritas, while Cap isn't sure what to make of his.

Okay, now Hulk smash pinata!

Nice! That's encouraging to hear.

I looked in several different stores over this course of this weekend but didn't see a single one of the Hot Wheels Enterprises. I spotted the Trek Fighter Pods playsets and figurines, but no KREO and no Hot Wheels.

The Avengers' Cinco de Mayo antics were well worth the wait, KM. Another one knocked right out of the ballpark. Sweet. :D

The red plastic projectile being held by Hulk looks almost exactly like a Hasbro spring-loaded "blaster/cannon effect" used with Star Wars Destroyer Droids. I guess Hasbro could have recycled it with some of the newer Avengers figures and toys. They've done that kind of thing before (reusing weapons and accessories from one franchise and toy line in others to save on new tooling costs).

It actually came with Hawkeye's bow...which makes absolutely no sense.

Yeah, I figured Loki hasn't been punished enough, so I thought I'd stuff him in the donkey's ass. :guffaw:

Sounds like something Hasbro would do to keep costs down. Use a Star Wars action figure projectile from 10 years earlier as an Avengers weapon. I own plenty of those Destroyer Droids from the 2002-2006 period and pretty much every one of them during that time frame came with one version or another of that red projectile.

I'm still wondering what the mystery ship is in the wave...I'm kind of hoping it is

The USS Vengeance
I've seen pictures of the Kelvin and it looks pretty awesome.

My haul for the day:

Found them at Wegman's grocery store, of all places! Two dollars, and I bought two of each. They were out of Hulk, though, and they didn't make Black Widow, which sucks. These will be made into necklaces.

Sweet haul! I'm happy for ya.

Are these the cheaper, much less articulated figures that come in smaller packages? I've seen figures similar to these in dollar and discount stores.
