The absolute worst film you've ever seen

Arctic Blast, Day After Tomorrow on a shoestring budget starring Daniel Jackson from SG1
One of our local channels that seems to play nothing but terrible movies has shown this several times. They also had an Independence Day knock-off that I mostly remember for a scene where a soldier is testing an alien weapon and ends up vaporizing his own head, the main character then just quips something like "Well at least we know how it works." :wtf:

I always thought ISHTAR was supposed to be more of a commercial disaster than an artistic one. I've never actually seen it, but I thought it was infamous (like HEAVEN'S GATE and CUTTHROAT ISLAND) more for being a mammoth financial flop than the Worst Movie Ever.

Who's gonna argue with a Mr. Spock avatar and a great writer. Greg, not for nothing, but when is your next book coming out, Star Trek or otherwise? Man, you're prolific.

Those humorless comedies are painful to sit through, where it's just one failed joke after another amid no plot and no direction. Not to be confused with jokeless comedies such as Date Movie, Epic Movie, Vampire's Suck and Meet the Spartans, which are a whole separate category that's even worse.

Thanks for asking THE LIBRARIANS AND THE POT OF GOLD (my third LIBRARIANS novel) comes out this Fall.

That time, the press was covering what a disaster it was going to be before it even came out. Elaine May's previous movie had lost a lot of money, and there rumors of production chaos, strife etc. But I did see it, and it was bad. Not horrible, IIRC, but just kind of limp, uninspired, unrewarding.

The name of the film should warn you not to see it.

Not necessarily. Could be scary, campy fun if done with style. You just need to make a movie that lives up to the lurid title.

(Says the guy who just edited a seriously cool novel about serial insane clown killers. Really.)

I probably haven't seen many of the real stinkers, or else I've managed to forget them. However, there are a few that I've seen that I wish I hadn't:

The US remake of The Ring. I'm not much of a horror fan in any case, but I only managed to sit through this one by getting a bit sloshed. My husband enjoyed it, though.
Sunshine was just crap. Sure, the cinematography was awesome and it was actually the first movie I've seen on blu-ray, but it's definitely a movie I never want to see again.
Event Horizon. I only sat through this because I was a bit of a Sam Neill fan at the time. But seriously the only thing I remember are the bloody eyelids/eyeholes.

The rumor at the time of the Heaven's Gate fiasco was that it went overbudget from prodigious amounts of cocaine purchased.

It would explain many things.

I remember watching it on VCR after it showed up at the local tape rental place a few months later. Turned it off after about 20 minutes. It wasn't awful, it just was boring and not funny, though it seemed to be trying. Maybe it got better. I'll never know.
Wow. Event Horizon is one of my all time favourite movies.
I like it also. Not something i'd re-watch a lot, but I did like it when it came out. I had not seen the original Solaris so I did not have much to compare it with at the time except for Black Hole.
