The 2008/09 BCS National Championship Game

Not impressed by either team. The loser of this game will not be in my top 4.

I'm becoming more impressed by Florida. THey are willing themselves into the lead and now get the big stop on 3rd down.

And now a blocked field goal.

Critical possession for Oklahoma's defense. I get the sense that they can't afford a Florida TD.

 - taking a walk on the wild side, are we?

Yeah, it's a crazy night.

Who schedules new stuff against the championship game?

This game is...interesting. The offenses get a good drive going but then make a boneheaded mistake. At least the defensive play is starting to pick up.

Boy was that a BIG play by the Oklahoma defense!! It didn't look good at first, but they made it still.

It almost looks like Florida is going more conservatively on offense. huh... never thought I'd ever sya that about an Urban Meyer team.

A more sensible statement would be not impressed by either offense.
The teams have played exceptionaly... just on defense rather than offense.

I'm hoping for a good game and a Gator victory!

So far we've got a great defensive matchup, it's really gonna take one of
these offenses to step up big to win.

GO GATORS!

The offenses may not be living up to their reputations, but both QB's are looking good at what they've been known for all along. Tebow is running and throwing, and intensely pushing his team. Bradfor has been Mr. Cool in the pocket and laser sharp with the perfect touch on his passing.

Wow! I'm not a fan of either team, but this has been a terrific game! Both are playing very well.

I'm not a fan of either, myself. Both coaches have been guilty of this "campaigning" that has been levied at Mack Brown. Plus there was that little matter of the which shall not be named. :o

But man these teams are playing like they are leaving it on the field, corny as that sounds. The Oklahoma defense has doen MORE than come ready to play, as have their special teams - save for that blocked FG. Apparently the special teams were a real problem this season.

Percy Harvin has been critical for the Gators, but now... he may have reinjured that ankle

Intense game, man. INTENSE

Sorry for not meeting your sensibility standards, but I am not impressed overall and not just the offenses. But it's a close game and that's good. Hopefully it will have an exciting finish.

If I was Bradford I'd be pissed, he was spot on with that pass -- in the hands of his receiver and the receiver couldn't hold on. Great persistence by the Florida player.

However, Sam, that might've just saved your NFL career.

I wasn't insulting you. Just thought perhaps your focus was on the
offensive play which hasn't been all that good until possibly now.

Anyways, guess you may have to be a fan of either team.

The way I've looked at it is that these two offense came in redefining "high-powered". Based upon how things have gone so far, I conclude that the defense have played lights out. I say that because although there have been a few turnovers... it's not as if the offenses have been sloppy or careless.

However, Sam, that might've just saved your NFL career.
How so?

I think big-12 was a little overrated.

Congrats to Florida. Oklahoma had their chances in the first half but they blew it. Florida is a deserving winner. And as good as Tebow played in the clutch, I have to give the MVP award to Harvin.

The Lions won't draft him. :)

Seriously, when we draft any young, somewhat promising QB we dismantle him and any skills he ever had. There is no in between. If he can spin this into he chokes under pressure, shit, that's a spot on the Chiefs who at least have hope.

I was thinking that even before this game, owing to how Missouri did against Northwestern and how Texas fared against Ohio St.

And I might agree with you about Harvin. Tebow has been a great leader tonight, but Harvin... made some HUGE runs when other players were dropping out due to injuries.

Wooohoo! 4th down stop!

That's right (St)oops... you've never faced these guys!

Haha, love the lil taunt there by Tebow. Have some fun boy, you did your job.

Something that I do NOT want to hear is criticism of Bob Stoops for Oklahoma losing tonight. Stoops' teams have lost some unfortunate games in the past, but he's a frelloing good coach who gets his teams into championship games with great frequency. THey don't get there if he's as incompetent as people jibe him for.

And the Gators are winners, 24-14

Oklahoma is going to be down after this but they shouldn't be. They played a heckuva game, especially their defense who understandably was ticked off after hearing all the time how lackluster they had been this season.

I just returned my ballot to the Associated Press. Here are the final top 4:

1. Florida/USC
3. Texas
4. Utah

Wait ...... pardon my ignorance, but how do you get to vote in the AP poll? that's coolness!

I didn't know you could split your vote that way
