The 100 - Season 2

The Middle Ages + Radiation + Acid Rain + Endless fucked up shit.

Outside... I'd expect an average life expectancy of 25.

Children having children.

A generation is now birth to 5 minutes after puberty and not more than 30 years.

Yeah, but Bellamy knows a lot more than the "adults" who just landed.

And a baby on the Ark? Imagination? A reason to try to land the last piece before it fails?

Yes... I think the kid is just his subconscious giving him a reason not to give up.

I loved tonight's episode. Raven's predicament was heartbreaking, but I loved how at the end she still put others first and encouraged Finn to try and find the others.

The stuff with Clarke was great, and the cliffhanger has me anticipating next week.

It is nice to see Jaha back on Earth, I'm just wondering when he'll make contact with the others.

The new credits are amazing.

Even if Game of Thrones is thinking about suing.

That wasn't the real Lincoln Monument last week.

Way too small.

But if the credits are to be believed, New York is going to come into play.

With the exception of the Grounders, who we know little to nothing about, there's been no indication of any changes in that regard. We didn't see children giving birth to children on the Ark, and we saw plenty of old people in Mount Weather. We've also seen no indication that it's true with the Grounders, limited as our information is, though their death rate is going to be a lot higher just by virtue of who and what they are.

Hell, there wasn't even any commentary about the Ark members having a high rate of death early on, indicating that only select individuals were becoming resistant to the "solar radiation" that has apparently made them immune to Earth, let alone that they had enough time to breed and build up the population from those gifted few. Mount Weather definitely hasn't had enough time to churn out Troglodytes, yet there they are.

Read it again. I'm talking about the people "outside".

Not the skypeople, and not the Mountain men.

We have not seen any one over 40 outside, and very few people over 30.

I very much doubt that Dichen Lachman is playing her actual age (32) and she's a general.

I pointed out that the Grounders are possibly an exception, but not as extreme as you're suggesting. And even if it was, at most the number of generations would have doubled to 8-10, which still isn't enough time to generate entire subspecies or wholly alien languages when they started off with -- and still obviously speak -- the same language and the same species.

Also, Dichen Lachman is not the only over-30 we've seen. In the last episode, Lincoln's friend (who's actor's name I can never remember) and Adina Porter are both well over 30, and the latter is in her 40s.

Breeding pairs are way too important now.

Death penalty is no longer an option.

In fact the opposite probably should be true.

If a grounded skyperson commits a crime that used to be the death penalty, they should be forced to have a children as immediately as possible.

I'd say five lashes every Friday until you're knocked up or you knock someone else up.

Funkenstien, you are being deceived by the future. Without facecream and hand lotion, everyone on the ground looks 10 to 15 years older by early 21st century standards than they actually are.

It's a hard world.

That would depend on how much sun exposure they get and what the weather is like in winter. Nutrition also plays a large part.

I'm 51, don't use any cream, lotion, or makeup, I stay out of the sun as much as possible, and people consistently underestimate my age by anywhere from 10-15 years. I still mostly look like an ID photo I had taken in 1987.

As to the show, I should think that most of the "kids" are not played by actual teens. For example, Katie Stuart plays Monroe, and she's 29 (I remember her from The Crow: Stairway to Heaven in 1998, when she was about 13 or so).

I'm barely past thirty, but the google banner ads here keep trying to make me sign up to a dating site for persons over 65.

Really enjoyed this one.
Wow, I did expect that twist at the end. I figured the Mountain Men were up to no good, but that wasn't quite what I expected.
So Jaha is on Earth now, but somewhere else. I wonder how long it will be before he makes contact with someone else. I'm assuming they're not going to leave him out by himself for the whole run of the show, or even the whole season. So the baby was just his subconcious giving him an excuse to survive. I guess he wasn't ready to sacrifice himself.
I wonder how much the Mountain Men are aware of what's going on outside?

What bridge was that buried in the sand behind Jaha? I'm guessing it was either the Brooklyn Bridge or the Golden Gate Bridge. I couldn't really get a good glimpse of it myself.

I'm assuming the former just so he'd have *some* chance of meeting up with the others anytime soon. ish.

Yeah, unless they find some way to travel across the country fast, I doubt they'd leave have him that far off from the rest of the cast.
Although now that I've been thinking about it a little more, I guess there is always a slight chance they could just introduce a new group of characters for him and do two parallel stories, but I find that unlikely.

Great episode tonight! I was getting ready to write Kane off after his treatment of Abby, but his actions at the end reminded me of his characterization at the later parts of last season. I was happy to see Finn take a darker turn in the episode, and it was interesting seeing Bellamy as the voice of reason. I liked the stuff with Clarke as well, her uneasy alliance with Anya was full of surprises.

So the bodies we saw in season one that the Reapers were eating, were given to them by the Mountain Men...

Reapers are not a global problem.

They are the Mountain Men's beards.

The Mountain Men see that the Reapers are blamed for their "hunting" even as the Mountain Men are known as a different sort of dangerous that you can ignore thinking that it ignores you.

How the ultrasonic leash worked on the Reapers but not Clark was impossible unless they as a subspecies had been simultaneously and unilaterally evolved to respond disfavourably to the device. No I'm not saying evolution is a bitch, I am saying the complete opposite. Mehtinks evolution has nothing to do with it, nothing to do with it. What's evolution but a second hand devotion?

I think that they have been surgically modified or behaviourally conditioned to think ultrasonics equals pain or that that garage door opener twisted some screws in their head that unsettles the lobotomy the Mountain Men gave them. The Reapers, these pets of the Mountain Men are 1/3 guard dog, 1/3 mine field and 1/3 waste disposal.

I keep forgetting the show is on Weds and keep missing it due to no reruns....argh!

The three headed dog that guarded the gates of hell, or the brand of tomato sauce?

They could be putting Lincoln into a giant vat that slowly turns him into ketchup.

Then, they could be stitching two other guys faces onto his neck one-upping what's happening on American Horror.
