Terry Matalas: No Stargazer in S3

The Enterprise-F? It's clearly not a standard Sovereign-class with the TNG Movie and PIC Season 2 lines so if it is the Enterprise-E she's gone through an obvious refit.

It doesn't look like a Sovereign Class Starship to me, but it does look along the lines of what I think a 25th Century Enterprise would look like.

I don't think it's the -F based off a comment Doug Drexler made.

So either a new ship, or a Sovereign Refit.

Perhaps he made that comment to hide the fact that his tweet accidentally showed the Enterprise-F MSD? I mean, why else would he have blurred it out? And why would the Ent-E have had a refit when other Sovereigns didn't?

I recall there was a point when the 2009 movie Countdown books were briefly considered canon, particularly as they applied to the Borg origin of the Narada, but yeah, on the whole, they’re not canon.

Not really: one of the writers said he considered canon and was promptly ignored by pretty much everybody else.

Saucer shape somewhat reminds of the Verity-class from STO, which is also another variant of the Odyssey/Yorktown:

Other than that, not much semblance.
Proportionately, a little closer, but still too long in the neck area and the rear end is definitely the wrong shape.

He was badged into it in an interview and then popped up in the comments to say he mispoke so he himself never believed it either!
"Badged"? By this guy?

But seriously JoeZhang, the best kept truths need to be badgered out of someone.

I was under the impression that the E-II's, like the Obena's, had an elongated saucer along the centerline (which is, ironically, why I initially mistook one for the other when it first appeared in PIC S2 E1). That one seems a lot more round.

Definitely an elongated saucer in the Excelsior². So much so you would see that even with the image being blocked somewhat.

The slightly elongated Sovereign or Odyssey could still have worked except the neck is too long on both of those. But maybe the silhouette we see doesn't 100% tell the story anyway.

We'll know soon enough, either from the episode or the inevitable Eaglemoss treatment of said starship, especially if she's a hero-boat. :)

After seeing so many variations of ships and the concept of a 'refit' being literally anything these days post Picard and Disco, it seems perfectly okay and reasonable that there are Sovereigns that don't really look alike. Exclsiors and Excelsior Refits existed together, and are now joined by Excelsior II's which aren't even refits but look like them so who knows? No reason why the Enterprise-E couldn't have a very unique refit.

That said, the ship in the MSD doesn't really strike me as a Sovereign refit. I'm really glad it doesn't seem to be that Verity class, definitely NOT a fan of it or the STO Enterprise-F. Profile of that ship is ridiculous looking to me.

I definitely think a Sovereign with a honking big impulse deck ala: the Excelsior Mk2 (or some other oversized feature) could account for that diagram. From above the neck would appear shorter.
