Terry Matalas: No Stargazer in S3

A clearer image of the Season 3 ship has just been posted on Facebook.

The Enterprise-F? It's clearly not a standard Sovereign-class with the TNG Movie and PIC Season 2 lines so if it is the Enterprise-E she's gone through an obvious refit.

Not quite a Sovereign or an Odyssey, if we're to assume that's an Enterprise at all.

Looks like the Enterprise-F to me, albeit in slightly modified form. I'm guessing the art department gave her an extra pass instead of just pasting the STO model in like they did all the others?

If it absolutely needs to be the Odyssey class, I do hope they give it a full visual overhaul. I suspect it will still have the Oberthesque twin-neck layout, though. That seems to be its signature "feature". Can't tell from that top view, though...

It looks nothing like the Odyssey (to me)

Doug Drexler also hinted on Facebook that the Ent-E is still around.

So I'm going with a Sovereign refit if it's the Ent-E, or a brand new design if it isn't.

I doubt they'd use an existing design for their new hero ship. They didn't with the Stargazer.

Whatever is in that image is much less stretched out than a Sovereign or an Odyssey. It would need to be a refit if it's the E or a subclass if it's the F-Odyssey.

They moved the pylons forward between Insurrection & Nemesis, or used different pylons.

Eaves even designed another minor refit for the finale scene leaving drydock, but it was never used in the film. Star Trek Online used it a decade later however.

Top 3 views. Pylons are thicker, nacelles are moved forwards a bit, there's s lip on the secondary hull and he intended it to have a Aztec pattern similar to the Ent-A. It's based roughly on one of his concepts for the ship for First Contact (very bottom of the image).

STO's model. There's also a 3/4 view concept art piece of the refit that Eaves did that I can't find at the moment.

Edit: This mockup of the Valkyrie from Season 2 is edited Eaves art was I mentioned above

I'm not sure why the Enterprise-E would have been refit that drastically if the other Sovereigns we saw weren't. Plus, we saw a model of the E in season 1 and it looked the same as in the movies.

The top view of this mystery ship looks nothing like a Sovereign or an Odyssey/Yorktown. And the fact that someone felt the need to blur the image suggests that the ship is something more important than just a random new vessel. The only ships that have that much name recognition that someone would want to hide its identity
are the Enterprise, Voyager, Defiant and Discovery. Considering that all the TNG cast will be returning for season 3, which ship do you think it will likely be?

While I would be shocked if it wasn’t some Enterprise, if it is the F, I would be surprised if they did use the Odyssey-Class. This would be an Enterprise. They’re gonna design that sucker. How often have Trek artists had an opportunity to design a new one?

Normally I would agree. But I wrongly assumed they would make a new design for the Titan rather than use the 18-year old design from the non-canon novels.

It was for lower decks, though, a series that loves visual references to past Trek.

On one hand I expect they to design a new enterprise if the -F appears, on the other I’m not sure they will for just one season, especially since they realised a lot of STO models recently (then again the new Stargazer appeared only twice so far…).

True, Mike McMahon used the design as a tribute to Sean Torangeau, but they carried it over to PIC as well. And PIC`s use of the STO ships (albeit as a cost saving measure for far background ships) gave me pause that they would end up using the STO Enterprise-F design.

Plus, it is another model they can sell to us.

The Titan isn’t the Enterprise. Unless you’re on the level of Trek fandom like most of us, you’ve probably forgotten the Titan. The Enterprise IS Star Trek for many.

@BillJ actually made my point for me. I know the Titan isn't the Enterprise, but the marketing gene in me would have made me want a different design for the Titan so Eaglemoss could sell another canon version of the ship besides the non-canon model (which they'd already made.) Instead, they made their customers buy another version of the same design. But that`s just me. I would think people would buy a new design more than a duplicate one.

Saucer shape somewhat reminds of the Verity-class from STO, which is also another variant of the Odyssey/Yorktown:

Other than that, not much semblance.
