Terry Matalas: No Stargazer in S3

My money is the hero ship for Season 3 being the E. I imagine it going something like this:

There's a crisis and JL looks at Riker and asks, "Where's our ship?" Riker's Response is, "Worf is on his way with her." Cut to shot of refitted / upgraded Enterprise-E dropping out of warp.

Another scenario - JL looks at a few of the crew who have assembled to take on crisis / threat and says "We are going to need a ship." LaForge (now promoted to chief of Starfleet Corp of Engineers) says, "I think I've got just the ship, she's state of the art and the most advanced ship in the fleet." Cut to shot of Enterprise F in space dock powering up.

Considering the budget constrains of season 2, they likely wouldn't have built the bridge, corridor, and observation lounge sets for just an episode or two. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't even build these sets until the final point of season 2 filming (parts of different episodes were likely filmed out of order).

Production designer Dave Blass (@daveblass) has posted pictures of a transporter room and perhaps some other sets as well on Twitter. Worth a follow! And he seems like a real class act in general in respecting and valuing the history of the franchise.

Maybe we will have a TSFS situation where they have to steal a ship and they opt for an old Galaxy Class?

I can't see them going with the E, but maybe that's just my bias showing.

I'm skeptical if it is the E, but then again the Bridge of NCC-17101 changed between I and II, and A between IV and VI !!

Isn't the Saucer section of the D supposed to have been lifted from its' crash site in a probably non-canon source?
According to one of the background ship plaques at the Academy earlier this season on PIC, the -D's saucer was retrieved intact (or, at least, as intact as it was after it crashed) and put into the Fleet Museum. I don't think that was legible on screen, though.

I knew I'd read about that somewhere. At least it means the idea is in their heads. I'm calling it then... Somehow they will steal the saucer section from the Fleet Museum.

Guy is lying. Why would they build such an elaborate set. Sure they could redress it but it was rather unique in some places

Which they will then reattach to a Galaxy class secondary hull with three nacelles and a supercannon.

This is the last adventure ever for Picard. The whole TNG crew is coming back. You can be 1000% certain the Enterprise will feature in the story. Which one, I don't know.

I have this funny feeling that they are going to use a high-quality CGI model of the STO Odyssey/Yorktown class as the Enterprise-F. It’s not what I would do, but I’m not in charge.

Was it The Return, or the follow up novel that renamed a black Defiant class Enterprise for Kirk?

I recall that as well. It was the unofficial Enterprise-E before the actual E was constructed. They then renamed it something else and it was subsequently lost to get it out of the picture.

And IDK if it was the same book or another one, where TNG era Scotty stole a Constitution class from the the museum to go out and look for Kirk? Or was the space shuttle Enterprise involved?

Since S3 will probably be the biggest nostalgia fest in Trek history (I'm not complaining!), I doubt they would use a new Enterprise. I personally would like to see the good ol' Ent-D, polished up and ready to fly. As others have suggested, maybe they pull it out of the museum for some emergency, a la nuBSG. In fact, the structure of the Stargazer bridge could easily be modified to make it D-like. It even has the raised back level and horseshoe around the three command seats.

No, that was a different novel.

But they're not going to modify it. They're going to use it exactly how it was shown in season 2, other than an extra panel on the chair and a different ship design on the LCARS screen (that was blurred out but looks vaguely like a top view of a Sovereign or Odyssey/Yortown class.) They have this new bridge set and they're going to get their money's worth out of it by making it the bridge of different 25th century ships.

If it's just the saucer hook it up to La Sirena for an easier flight? :P
