Terminator VI

James Cameron has said that they worked out a plot for three movies while they were developing Dark Fate. It sounds like if they make it to the third one it could be the end of the franchise. He says that they have been "kicking the can down the road" when it comes to the conflict between humans and AI, but you can only do that so many times before you need to hit a resolution, and the third movie, if it happens, would resolve that conflict.

It's been nearly 40 years since the first movie. THIS movie should have resolved the conflict!

Just back from seeing this. I had decided that I wouldn’t see it after the trailers (and because Genysis was so bad) but good reviews and word of mouth changed my mind. I’m pleased to say I enjoyed it. Not as good as the first two, obviously, but better than the next 3 (FWIW, I quite enjoyed T3 and Salvation but saw them once and have no interest in ever seeing them again).

Hamilton is great as is Arnie and the two new leads were likeable and compelling in a way that Courtney, Clarke (either of them) and Sam Worthington weren’t. Luna doesn’t have much to do that Robert Patrick hasn’t already done but he does it well. The action is outstanding. And at about 2 hours, it’s leaner and more economical than most modern blockbusters. (As a personal aside, my cinema only showed 5 mins of adverts, all of which were film trailers, before starting the film, which I thought was bloody great)

Entertaining enough but I suspect will end up being just as forgettable as everything else post T2 in the long run.

I will say that the believability of CGI recreations of people has gotten so good that it won't be long before Russia or China start using them to destabilise countries in the real world.

Saw it last nicht, and yes, it really is very good. I do hope it won't be punished at the box office for the last few movies.

Naah. They'll just reimagine it again. The fact they can make big scary robots look like people more or less stems back to :guffaw: "Galactica 1980", if not earlier and probably via coincidence and ostensibly for the same reason (cost cutting measure, not realizing the potential). And/or an innovation on the doppelganger trope except no elaborate and suspension-disbelief-ing scripting discussing excessive surgery or anything else related is needed. The going-back-in-time trope allows infinite number of reboots. They'll eventually get a cast and script and audience appreciation environment that will be like how lightning struck in 1984 and then in 1991. The original movies weren't free from plot problems, neither will remakes/reboots/sequels/reimaginings/etc. The fewer the better, obviously, but with each iteration the problems will only be different and/or perceived as such.

That was not really good but not bad either, good action (but far too much, now I get people falling asleep during overblown action orgies), Hamilton and actually most of the cast are great, Arnold... ok. What I really liked were the twists actually, John, Skynet...

Um...I think I enjoyed it. Yeah, pretty sure. It's not amazing, but it's better than the last three. Mostly. Still got some real dumb stuff and crummy dialogue and weird shot choices though. T1 and T2 it ain't. :)

Saw it tonight (October 31st) at the Scotiabank Theater in IMAX, and it is amazing. Hopefully Paramount will make a lot of money from this that it didn't make from Gemini Man.

I have no interest in seeing it after reading about the first 5 minutes! It seems like the Terminator's TFA, a boring and derivative retread.

Do any of these movies make money since T2?

I just saw it. It is better than Terminator Genisys.

I did not like what Genisys did to the character of John Connor in that movie.

Terminator : Dark Fate's treatment of the character of John Connor was better and made more sense.

It was good to see Arnold back.

Linda Hamilton as usual played her role well as Sarah Connor.

I actually liked this new terminator, Rev-9. He is more intelligent and displays emotions in order to lure humans into trusting him.

I enjoyed it. Even at 2+ hours it feels lean and moves fairly quickly through the plot. It was great to have Linda Hamilton on board and the movie actually uses Arnold fairly effectively as well. If there is a weakness to the film, I felt it didn't have as much to say about human nature, technology and fate as the first two. Overall though I found it to be a solid addition to the franchise. Hopefully we get more from this universe.
