Terminator VI

Yeah, because what intrigued me about T1 and T2 were hints of the future that we got. Salvation was the only one that actually showed more of that by having that be its setting, rather than rehash after rehash. I'd like to see things go more in that direction. Explore sides to the Terminator franchise that haven't been seen before and not just set in present-day. the But they sadly seem to only be capable of retreading ground which is why I'm very skeptical about this current entry.

I to like the idea of seeing the future but I feel that movie dropped the ball. Shame the tv show ended because maybe we were going to see some of that in season 3, considering how season 2 ended.

Reading some of the recent comments about Salvation, I didn't think the film was horrible. However, I think they undercut the idea by ditching the original plan to make John Connor a Terminator, which Genisys did anyway. I also think the actors got some lackluster direction, because Christian Bale should've been much more awesome as Connor. When I first heard he was cast I thought it was a great choice, but his character was too blah, and Bryce Dallas Howard as Kate was even worse. Marcus wasn't the most emotive/expressive character either, though I liked Sam Worthington for the most part. Anton Yelchin made that film once he channeled Michael Biehn. I did like the look and feel of a good deal of Salvation. I would've been fine with a continuation of the Salvation storyline.

That being said, the opening scenes of Genisys were the best depiction of the Future War I've seen since the first film. It was the best recreation of that war from the original film. I also loved how Genisys recreated 1984 LA. I wish they had just kept the action in 1984. I also didn't hate Genisys. I think the marketing department sunk them by revealing the Connor-Terminator in the commercials (Salvation also screwed up by revealing Marcus was a Terminator as well), and Jai Courtney wasn't the best choice to play Reese. If Courtney had played another character sent back in time then I think is performance-as is-would've been fine. Emilia Clarke grew on me as Sarah Connor, and I felt she was a cross between the Terminator and Judgment Day depictions of Sarah.

I don't outright hate any of the Terminator films, and I'm curious about Dark Fate. I hope it's good. I'm not the biggest fan of using time travel yet again, but my intention is to be there in the theater to see if they can pull it off. I also didn't hate the Sarah Connor Chronicles. I loved the first season, but never watched all the second-it started to lose me. I really did like the addition of Derek Reese to the mythos and I wish the movies would acknowledge him.

I wonder if Natalia Reyes's character (Dani Ramos) will turn out to be Sarah Connor's daughter and the destined leader will jump from John to her to build a new series of films around.

I don't think Genisys had a chance once they didn't make it R rated. Then you recast Sarah Connor with the wrong "Game of Thrones" actor instead of the one we already know who can play the character and Jai Courtney is one of the worst actors around.

Hadn't she already been played by at least two different actresses at this point? Linda Hamilton in the early movies and Lena Heady in the TV series. A third version of the character wasn't so far off the mark by then, plus it was supposed to be a younger version of the character from 1984 predating the version of the character from T2 and the TV series, which itself was set after T2 (1991), so casting a younger actress made sense in that context. She was still not right for the part though.

I also like Salvation - it was a superior film to Genysis, IMO.

Would also have liked to see a sequel to Salvation.

Genysis was a bad retread in every sense of the word (and the stuff that was new in this iteration didn’t captivate me either).

YMMV...

Lena Heddy is the right Game of Thrones actress who should have starred in Genysis as Sarah Connor?

Yep Lena Heddy is he one who should have been in the movie. Not only has she proven she can play the role I just think she is a better actress and talent. I would even have been excited to see her play the role.

Jason

Lena might be a good actor, but I wouldn't buy her as a 19 year old Sarah.

Exactly. My point is to say that while Heady is a great actress, I can understand why they went with a younger actress to play her that time around as it was technically a younger version of the character than the one we either see in the early movies and TV series. I think this is what people are forgetting. Clarke's version of the character comes from 1984 while Heady's version is from 1991, which is a large enough difference. Nothing against Heady, but I don't think she was contextually right for the version of the character they wanted portrayed.

Meh. Can't say I'm too impressed by the Dark Fate trailer. Looks like we're not getting anything different to Judgement Day, Rise of the Machines or Genesys. T2 is seen as the basic mould for what a Terminator film should be which has to be emulated time and again.

Same. It seriously just looks like "the next one" rather than any kind of new approach. If I didn't know any better, I'd assume this was a sequel to the last crappy one. It looks just like it.

I kind of feel the same way, but I loved seeing Linda Hamilton back as Sarah Connor. I especially loved the moment where Grace and Dani see Sarah arrive just when they need her. A badass woman coming to the aid of women in danger.

I think you're probably right. They'd do better taking their inspiration from T1.

It is ! ;)

Fingers crossed it's a return to form...

I got the same vibe as Tosk. This trailer does feel like Genisys, the second half of that film anyway. The big action scene at the end reminded me of the helicopter scene in Genisys. Overall, outside of seeing Linda Hamilton again-who had a very good intro-I wasn't that impressed with this trailer. I think Gabriel Luna could make for an interesting Terminator though. The splitting thing is different-though I was looking at You Tube reviews of the trailer and one reviewer complained that they spoiled his gimmick/trick with Luna's Terminator. I hadn't considered that, and if that's the case, then it's similar to how the marketing spoiled Marcus in Salvation and John Connor in Genisys, and that they haven't learned their lesson yet. I've read that Luna's character is a T-1000, but he appears to be more, and I hope when more is revealed about the film, that he's a brand-new Terminator. I like the idea of each film introducing a new Terminator. It's like they can't really come up with anything cooler than a T-1000 so they go back to that or find ways to pay homage to it in all the films (and Sarah Connor Chronicles) except Salvation.

I do think Mackenzie Davis might have been a better Captain Marvel than Brie Larson from what I've seen in this trailer. Though I wasn't overly impressed with this trailer, I still intend to watch the film. I feel a little better about this cast than I did about the Genisys cast, and I wound up liking that film, even though I still think Jai Courtney should not have been Reese and that more could've been done with Matt Smith. I'm curious to see how they explain what happened to John and why Dani Ramos is now the new Sarah Connor. It would be great if the film acknowledged Salvation, Genisys, and the Sarah Connor Chronicles in some way, especially since they no longer are supposed to exist in this new continuity.
