I am surprised that has not happened in a comic book, or has it

I enjoyed the episode, and look forward to seeing the Catherine Weaver-Ellison plotline develop.

Considering that the three dot message appeared next to Greenway's name, I'd say three dots = cancer is a good bet.

For someone who's supposed to be creating skynet, Weaver seems to go out of her way to teach her AI rules. I'm not so sure that John Henry isn't being created as a rival to skynet by either by the resistance who somehow reprogrammed a T-1001 or a group of machines with a different agenda than skynet.

My bet is on another breakaway faction of the machines that wants to not be as destructive to reach their goals. War = destruction of resources, this AI faction wants to limit the damage by competing with skynet and use humanity to achieve their goals rather than kill humanity.

Moreover, Skynet has so far been on the losing side of the war - despite judgment day, eventually it seems to get defeated by the resistance in the versions of the future we know. Perhaps Weaver and co want to try a different approach by not going for all-out war (instead perhaps just making sure that Skynet and Terminators will exist, and gain power while working in the frame of a human society).

I mean, John Henry should learn the ten commandments? Give me a break.

They're a pretty decent moral framework, so I don't see that as religious nuttery. Not all of them are entirely applicable to an AI, but still......

I suppose the Three Laws provide the same basic framework, although there are probably legal issues with using those.

Most of them aren't applicable, which is why I find the concept ridiculous, and it's the kind of thing a nut would say. Just because someone is immoral should you beat them over the head with a Bible? Being religious and preaching the Bible in such a fashion just rubs me the wrong way.

Imagine if I caught you stealing something from a store. Wouldn't it sound dumb if I said, "Thou shalt not steal!!!"? It's just preachy and arrogant.

The problem is that John Henry is amoral; I agree that the Commandments are a good starting point for morality, irrespective of the exact phrasing.

True, he is amoral, but I was just making an analogy to an immoral human and essentially how a Bible thumper solves a problem.

I think the Golden Rule (or a variant of it) is better than the ten commandments. It's more logical, more concise, and more applicable. It sums up what's good about the ten commandments in one easy rule. Unless verbosity and length is the goal, then why not the Ma'at?

Well, naming something that fewer audience members have even heard of would not have the same effect. In this case I think the connotation of the line is more important than the specifics. And Ellison has been established as having read the Bible, so that particular reference fits his character well.
