Jeez... just three? All right...
1. I have a math degree from the University of Waterloo, which is one of the top universities for math and computer science in North America, if not the world. (Spinoff companies include Research In Motion, which invented the Blackberry.) After 12 years as a COBOL programmer, I transitioned to Web development and now work primarily in PHP and .NET.
2. Despite the heavy math background, I also quite enjoy artistic pursuits; I've performed in stage musicals and Shakespearean/Marlovian drama, co-wrote a teleplay for Star Trek: Voyager (which they held onto for well over a year before declining to buy it

- we were told that the turnaround time would be eight weeks to eight months, which is how we're pretty sure they were seriously considering it), and once auditioned for the Broadway production of Rent. (No, I didn't get it.

) For those who know what filk music is, I wrote my first filksong in over 20 years a few months ago. (That's a long hiatus, I know, but I've never really considered myself a filker. I just had a sudden burst of inspiration, and
had to write it.)
3. I have a tendency to take on more work than can possibly be healthy; an acquaintance, who at the time was a bartender at the bar I used to frequent, once nicknamed me "the boy who can't say 'no'" because at the time, I was working on three separate science fiction conventions and trying to start a fourth, non-SF convention. (For those of you who have me friended on Livejournal, yes, that's where the name comes from... who needs context?) Right now I only have two on the go (though it was three for a while, when I was in charge of Events for last year's Worldcon). And that's while maintaining a full-time job and, until recently, a long-distance relationship. And yes, I do get at least six hours of sleep per night (usually).
Edited to add:
To paraphrase Chris Lowe, there are some things I don't like, but what I do like, I love passionately.
Paraphrasing Chris Lowe? Are you trying to get me to fall in love with you?

"Paninaro" is probably in my top 20 favourite PSB songs.
(In my experience, very few non-Petheads even know who he is. 25 years as part of one of the most successful pop music groups ever, and his name means nothing to people who call themselves "music fans"... because if the act is older than Lady Gaga, they pay no attention.
