Tell Me Three Things About Yourself

I am easy to get along with(most of the time anyway).
I adore animals! Have two dogs and two cats(two cats drive us nuts at times) one of which used to weigh about 27 lbs! Now he weighs closer to 10.
I am a sucker for reality TV and as of late been a big fan of the Bad Girls Club on Oxygen. And of course, love listening to music and watching NCIS. :D

Okay, I'm trying desperately to keep up. Even if I don't comment on something of yours, I'm definitely reading them all. It's great getting to know new people! :)

3. I have a dark sense of humor.

You know, this one has always intrigued me because you've mentioned it before but you always come across so sweet and wholesome on the board.

2:I'm engaged to a hot Southerner

I love how thrilled you are to be engaged! Have you two set a date yet?

3. My wonderfulness will give you seizures, so pray we never meet in person.

3. I feel much more comfortable communicating through writing rather than talking.

Do you find it a lot easier to talk to people online than in person? (And we love hearing about your kids, at least I know I do! They sound so adorable.)

1. I really am a musician.

What instruments do you play?

Only three?

I love that I can tell stuff just by noting who complained about the three-item limit in this thread!

3) I have two dogs: A pomeranian I got from a breeder and a pom/chihuahua mix I got as a rescue

How are your darlings doing? My parents' pomeranian looks like a giant brick of a dog ever since we got a kitten.

3. I like this cute Armenian guy at work, but he's likely a straight guy, and I wouldn't dream of approaching him (though I've spoken with him a few times).

It can be a bit fun to just crush on someone without pursuing it further, I think. Waaaay back when I was single, I think I crushed on a different guy every two hours!

1. I adore music - listening (I'll listen to almost anything) and playing (flute) and singing. I suspect this is due to being the daughter of a music teacher and being related to the late Sir Malcolm Arnold, a composer.

Is there anything you absolutely can't stand to listen to?

1. I've been mostly bored and lonely lately, what with moving to a new city, with a new language. I'm a little overwhelmed with everything, so I can't seem to get my shit together and stop slacking off at uni.

Well get off TBBS, for one! No, I'm kidding. So where did you move, and from where?

3. I lived in Canada illegally for 5 years before getting my immigration paperwork finalized!

Wow, you didn't run into any problems with that? And your current Dalmation is "Lily" right? Or am I remember wrong?

2. I usually remember my dreams, and they can be rather crazy. Especially right after I've watched Doctor Who or Buffy or something.

I'm the same way (though not the exact same shows). It's always a bit funny to dream something and then realize it could have been a plot in one of the shows I had watched that evening.

1. I'm a snob about a lot of things, but usually I manage to not let it on around other people.

Oh do tell, what are you snobbish about?

2. I'm a bit of a jerk.

But you can be quite pleasant when you make the effort, and you're a good conversationalist. :)

Wow Kestra - you're an original triple threat - smart, sweet and cute to boot! This thread is fun!

Oh wow, thanks! :alienblush: I think it's a fun way to get to know each other a bit.

I kind of like winter
I love winter! Do you live somewhere with harsh or mild winters?

3. We are hoping to adopt this year (or at least be well underway with the process)

I know I only know you tangentially, but I find this really exciting and wish the best to both of you!

3. I have a tendency to take on more work than can possibly be healthy; an acquaintance, who at the time was a bartender at the bar I used to frequent, once nicknamed me "the boy who can't say 'no'" because at the time, I was working on three separate science fiction conventions and trying to start a fourth, non-SF convention. (For those of you who have me friended on Livejournal, yes, that's where the name comes from... who needs context?) Right now I only have two on the go (though it was three for a while, when I was in charge of Events for last year's Worldcon). And that's while maintaining a full-time job and, until recently, a long-distance relationship. And yes, I do get at least six hours of sleep per night (usually).

First of all, I love how you crammed in as much info as you could into three separate points. Second, friend me on LJ! I'm "kestramiral" there. Thirdly, make sure you take care of yourself and don't get too overwhelmed!

3. Caretaker of both my elderly parents.

That's very kind of you and says a lot about you as a person.

i love the arts and all kinds of music.

Anything art form that's a particular favorite, either to observe or engage in?

3. I have a dark sense of humor.

You know, this one has always intrigued me because you've mentioned it before but you always come across so sweet and wholesome on the board.
 I get that a lot -- all my life in fact. Not only do I come across as wholesome (and sometimes even, naive), I look all sweet and innocent too. The truth is I'm much more jaded and cynical than I appear.
How are your darlings doing? My parents' pomeranian looks like a giant brick of a dog ever since we got a kitten.
Hey, and how is your kitten? I remember you expressing misgivings about getting it; is it going well?

I think I come across as more idealistic online than I do in person. I used to be a really cynical, sarcastic, and negative person in RL so some of that still comes across. But I think the way I am online is more of who I really am.

And yeah, kitten's doing well! We kept the name Comet, and while I don't think I'll ever be a cat person, I treat him like he's my little baby and spoil him rotten. And my husband absolutely loves having him. I swear sometimes I feel like it's two against one in the house now!

I'm pretty uninteresting
I'm almost always angry
And I have a questionable sense of humor

Kestra, we are getting married in May of 2011, making it a 2-year engagement. It's a wise move since I'm still working on my second BA degree and we aren't able to support each other right now.

1. I have a big family that increasingly seems to be jelling into its own subculture.

2. It disturbs me that I may never live in Hawaii which I indulge in obsessing over periodically.. visiting places doesn't interest me the way living in them does. I have to read forums about how much Hawaii sucks to wean myself off it.

3. I used to be religious but cannot no longer really believe most of it. Too apathetic to rework/reframe past beliefs into something I can get behind.

1) It will take you a couple weeks to warm up to me
2) Once you warm up to me, you will love me in a platonic way
3) From your platonic pedestal, you will look upon me and wonder why I don't have a girlfriend

Oh, how well this describes me too... so I guess they can count as my three things! :p

Okay, fine, here you go:

1) When I was 14, I received my black belt in Taekwondo.

2) I've never smoked a day in my life. Cigarettes, marijuana, crack... you name it and I haven't smoked it.

3) I have a B.A. in English and Theatre & Film Studies -- and I have no idea what to do with it.

1. I have a cousin who played (and still works for) the NHL.
2. Being a huge nerd I met my SO through the bbs.
3. I had my prom in a cave.

First of all, I love how you crammed in as much info as you could into three separate points.

It comes with the territory of "doing too much". ;)

Second, friend me on LJ! I'm "kestramiral" there.

Done! I haven't actually posted in months, but I still read my friendslist daily (or try to) and comment when I feel the urge. I really have to start posting regularly again.

Thirdly, make sure you take care of yourself and don't get too overwhelmed!

Will do - thanks! :)

A lot of people admit to (sometimes large) discrepancies between their personalities on line and in real life. Honestly, I think I come across pretty similarly online as I do IRL, so hat you see is what you get -- though I do find it easier to flirt online.

^
And people are as uninterested in me in RL and they are online.

Thanks.

:)
