Tell Me Three Things About Yourself

^
And people are as uninterested in me in RL and they are online.

Thanks.

:)
You sure about that? I mean it's not like anyone here is ignoring you, as far as I can tell. From experience if someones completely uninteresting they get ignored.

tsq That is just a general statement, sorry...you just reminded me of something I was thinking.

Ashu I dunno...maybe I am a drama-queen...but I feel ignored alot on other online venues...where people try hard to friend me and then forget I am there.

[edit]

Diddle Awww. :(

[edit 2] I stand by the fact no one care about me in my RL...trust me.

I am the ultimate geek
I love to write
I have a 1-year-old domestic short hair kitty who I'm absolutely crazy about

You and me both, bud.

This whole thread was started because I realized that there are people who feel they go unnoticed and I have invited all of you to share a few things about yourself. Rather than focusing on feeling ignored, why don't you both participate not only by telling us about yourselves, but also conversing more with other posters? There are a lot of interesting people here and the majority probably go unacknowledged.

It's okay to be a drama queen. There are a lot of times I feel the exact same way, so I definitely know where you're coming from. I've made over 12,000 posts here and I'm thinking maybe only half of them have ever been replied to, tops (for example my original post in this thread about myself).

Just because people don't reply to you doesn't mean you aren't interesting. It's a big forum and things get missed all the time.

Plus if it helps, I find you plenty interesting, even though I don't converse with you on a regular basis.

1. I have a cousin who played (and still works for) the NHL.
2. Being a huge nerd I met my SO through the bbs.
3. I had my prom in a cave.

1. Kewl.
2. Very happy you have a SO.
3. I envy you. Our prom was in a convention center...would have been better in the gym...IMHO.

Thank you :)

Just try not to think of it. And if you feel like talking to someone feel free to pm me.

It's better to fly under the radar. You can get away with far more nefarious schemes.

I've said too much.

Thank you for doing this, Kes. I personally don't feel alienated around here and actually think that this forum (as well as TBBS as a whole) has a rather friendly atmosphere. :)

Now having said that, I guess you could really tell a lot about people based on the type and scope of information they want to share. For instance, my 60-something lady friend who's a bit of a social butterfly believes her life is an open book in that she'd willingly discuss details about her family and health issues with random strangers. TMI, in my opinion, but no harm done.

I enjoy reading everyone's personal facts; although I have to admit, it would be a much more interesting read if it wasn't a matter of "filling in the blanks." Some people state their occupation, marital status, hobbies and interests, favorite drinks, favorite food, favorite music, et al. Yes, these are all very interesting, and there's nothing wrong with those, but how about something deeper, more thought-provoking? For instance, I'd love to hear a memorable experience (scary, embarrassing, funny) one had at some point in his/her life. What does a person believe in or stand for? Who or what gives someone an inspiration? Does anyone have any special talents? Has anyone ever met someone famous or influential? What's the farthest you've traveled away from home? What thing would you like to do/have or place you'd like to go to before you die? Is there one thing that you have/like to do every waking day of your life? What turns you off? What bores/bothers/excites the hell out of you?

EDIT:

I realize this is Kes' thread, and I don't presume to tell people what they can or cannot post. So if you gather that impression, my humblest apologies. These are just suggestions.

How people chose to define themselves is often more interesting and telling then the content of the definition. What could be more deeper and thought-provoking then learning what each individual thinks are their defining qualities?

1. Everybody I know tells me I am very intelligent, but I have a tremendous inferiority complex about my intelligence and my education.

2. I used to tell people I dropped out of high school when in fact I passed the equivalency exam when I was 16.

3. I have taken almost two dozen psychiatric drugs and half a dozen illegal drugs in my life and none of them really had any effect on me.

Not that I disagree with you, which is why I said you can tell a lot about someone based on the amount and the type of information he/she prefers to share with others. It's just in our everyday world, most people would associate identity with one of the following: (1) occupation, (2) race/ethnicity, (3) sex/gender, (4) sexual orientation, (5) age, (6) religion/faith, (7) city or place of residence, and a host of other things. To me, sharing such information about oneself has become commonplace, and IMHO, I'd be interested to hear what others have to say about other aspects of their lives or personalities besides the more obvious facets.

Splendid! I'm glad to have learned these things about you, and they also serve as good examples of more in-depth personal info.

Good suggestions Drone but why not start the ball of deepness rolling yourself? Your three things were your musical tastes, good grammar skills and crush.

Lead on !

Kestra, there are a few styles I wouldn't listen to out of choice (rap, heavy heavy metal, hip-hop... anything in that sort of area) but I'll give anything a listen once. A lot of my musical dislikes are for individual bands/solo singers, though.

Ashu, prom in a cave? Wow!
