Tell Me Three Things About Yourself

Hmmm

1) I was accepted to university on a paleontology major after high school but couldn't go because the tuition cost was astronomical and my father refused to provide his financial information when I was looking for aid. Didn't help that I was doing everything last minute.

2) When I moved to Canada and was going to university I was terribly depressed: I was away from my family for the first time ever, had gotten married impulsively, and my father died. I couldn't motivate myself, and stopped going to classes, and after my second semester the university asked me to to go away for a year and reapply if I still wanted to pursue my education there. For a long time I maintained the fiction that I was unable to afford the tuition rather than tell anyone that I failed out.

3) I love giving presents to people who are important to me. So much so that it put me in financial trouble and I filed a consumer proposal earlier this month to deal with debt I had accumulated in marriage and after it broke up.

Don't need a guy to cook for you? No? Just thought I'd throw it out there. As I said, I'm quite tired of this winter thing.

Well, since I can't cook, hell, yeah.

Glad to see that you are doing a bit better now. Cheer up, my friend.

Well that's one out of three :cool:And thanks. Also helps that today was the easiest work day I had in a while. Was a long one though.

3. I dislike all forms of social events (family reunions, company picnics, banquets, weddings, outdoor games, birthday parties, etc.). I don't have a social anxiety disorder, but I'm quite introverted and would rather not deal with big crowds and gatherings, not that I avoid them totally.

Same here. I try to avoid social events. Not always, because I'm afraid of not being invited anymore and to end up lonely. But I'm not keen on going, unless I know the people and unless it's a small group. For example I enjoy an evening of board games with close friends. And the christmas party at my company last year was actually nice, because it was a friendly atmosphere and we were only 9 people.

I, too, don't mind small groups (e.g., family gatherings during holidays and occasions, lunch with work friends). Being in a public setting doesn't bother me, either; in fact, I very much enjoy going out to lunch or dinner with a few close friends. It's the co-mingling with random people that I don't really care to participate in.

Things are better now then a when I wrote my very depressed post there a bit back. It's helped that I've gotten loads to do. What with the enormous amounts of snow we've been getting both I and my dad will have a lot to do, especially since we have to get a lot of it cleared before Friday night when it's supposed to rain. Loads of frozen snow on roofs = bad. Plus I've gotten quite a bit to do with my regular job this week.

I'm not up to 100%, but I won't be that until summer anyways. I really don't like winter.

I'm so glad to hear that. Have you ever thought about getting one of those lamps for SAD? Every fall i tell myself i will get one, but of course, being the Queen of Procrastination i never do. And then winter rolls around and i think of how i wish i did. Here's a link in case you've never heard of these:

http://womenshealth.about.com/od/fitnessandmentalhealth/a/sssssssssss.htm

and there are dozens of places online to buy the lamps. Oh, that article says it happens to women, but it happens to both men AND women.

Really? I hadn't noticed.

OMG! You didn't? OMG! NO WAY! Really? NO?? OMFG!! BTW, i only drink one cup of cawfee a day. And yes, i really do tawk like this.

While people are sharing dark secrets...

1. I tried to kill myself when I was 12, and spent some time in a mental hospital as a result.
2. I haven't actually cried since around the time of #1, either.
3. I wear boxer-briefs because I'm so indecisive.

OK, prepare to be cyber-hugged BIG TIME! {{{{squeeze}}}}
..........and, i LOVE boxer-briefs!

No, can't say that I have. In fact that's the first thing I've heard about those lamps. I think it's like the combo of the cold weather and the fact that I've been feeling rather down. I went trough one winter being totally okay and that was the winter I had a girlfriend. So I don't think it's necessarily just the weather. It just adds to it.

Hold on, "boxers-briefs"? What the hell is that? :wtf:

^ I could use one of those lamps! I definitely get more depressed in winter, combination of lack of light, constantly numb toes, and restricted exercise options (I don't "do" gyms, I walk the beach when it's decent out).

I also have those recurring school nightmares, usually that I've forgotten I was enrolled and now have a pile of work to make up.

boxer briefs.....

I would like to get one of those lamps for my son as well as for myself.
I'm so glad you're talking to your mom....but you can always PM me if you need someone to listen.
What's so it's like the tight boxers? Yeah I have some of those but mostly boxers. I need the space. And no that's an attempt at bragging, it's a bothersome fact.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind.

Aww, you're nice!

And if you like boxer-briefs that much, feel free to remove mine.

1. I didn't like Casablanca

I assume you mean the movie, not the town.

3. I still cry when I watch the last unicorn

Have you ever read the book? It's my favourite.
Yes, the movie. Never seen the town.
And I have not read the book - but will definetly take a look if you recomend it...

And for the coffee dear Drone36929, I think we are doing pretty good. Me made it to page 22 untill someone wanted to have some underwear removed:rommie:

I find it funny, interesting, and (you know what) quite nice that a lot of people feel that saying just three things about themselves isn't enough.

Me, I can't find a fourth thing to say at this point, really.

1. I hate myself.
2. I often wish I were dead.
3. I feel I am better than most.

Me, I can't find a fourth thing to say at this point, really.
That's a shame. And I'm not being sarky when I say that.

The thing is, I don't feel I need to say a fourth thing. If I only had three things to say about myself, that would be it. Three. Nothing more or less. Therefore, I would use those three things to say everything that I felt everyone else needed to know about me at that point. If they wanted me to elaborate on those things, then I'd be happy to oblige.

I mean, all the best things come in threes, too. I mean, three. :)

But I guess I like to be strict and by the book about these things, perhaps. (No, this doesn't count as "four" by the way. :p)

I love boxer-briefs too. I hated boxers because when i would change in the locker room at school, the fly of the boxers would open and uh ... something would flop out. :o

So boxer briefs provide the look of boxers with the protection and security of briefs.

And really now? How much room do you need? ;)

But I guess I like to be strict and by the book about these things, perhaps. (No, this doesn't count as "four" by the way. :p)
Oh yes it does, Minimalist Boy....

:D

I knew you'd say that. ;) Well, I guess that "fourth" fact can be inferred by anyone due to the fact that I hadn't volunteered any further information about myself beyond those three things (nothing new had been learned about me), so it still doesn't really count. :)
