Tech Mentioned In Episodes That Would Have Been Useful In Other Episodes

USS Excelsior

Commodore

There’s a bunch.

Such as the ability of the computer to detect and de-activate hand devices would have come in handy a lot, just not in the time pod episode.

If dimensional shifting is no good for transporting biology they could still use it to transport weapons aboard enemy ships where their shields would be no good against that transport.

Although illegal if desperate enough that Shinzon weapon can be sent and dispersed inside a Borg ship to disintegrate the biology so they’d all be dead and just leave the technology.

etc.

Instead of the Defiant borrowing a Romulan cloaking device in DS9, use the federation designed phased cloak that was tested on the Pegasus and also worked on the Enterprise. Agree to only use it in Dominion controlled space, and have the Romulan observer aboard as well to verify that it is only used in those instances.

Seems like Scotty storing himself in a transporter for an extended length of time would have significant practical applications, especially in a medical crisis

Subcutaneous transponders from "PATTERNS OF FORCE". Should be standard for ALL away teams. I suppose the communicators of the 24th century serve that purpose, but we have seen communicators get lost, stolen, or just taken off by the user. The transponders would also mitigate lack of 'locking on' ability encountered so often.

It's been a while since I saw that episode, but wasn't the lie detector only effective as far as its records were updated?

Besides, VOYAGER had the A.R.A. tests that could find out if someone is telling a truth or a lie. It only worked on Alpha Quadrant races because they had baseline comparisons, says The Doctor. It was used on Tom Paris in "EX POST FACTO" and Chakotay suggested it be used on Tierna in "BASICS, PART I" but The Doctor shut that idea down for the reason I said above.

If only they'd had the equivalent to a keystroke logger for the holodeck in TNG's "The Nth Degree" where a super smart Barclay used the holodeck to create a space fold drive system.

The Aldean repulsor beam and planetary shield (and planetary cloak, though they couldn't actually use it). The shields could protect any moonbase or installation that didn't rely on an ozone layer, and the repulsor beam would be the macro equivalent of a phaser set to stun.

I think the problem with that one is that it takes forever to charge. The purse-size they used to off the senators seems a lot quicker. Maybe they could use that one.

You beam a genesis torpedo inside a borg cube. If it can't be stopped, as Kirk's son said the cube would be destroyed.

The "library" from Masks would turn the Borg cube into rocks, swamps and snakes... Imagine the look on the BQ face when she sees her cube turned into a Mayan jungle.:D

Or just beam a team of people with Thompson submachine guns onboard. The Borg have undoubtedly encountered gunfire before, but they don't seem able to adapt to it.

They do have shields though: why are they just letting all these people beam in?

The instantaneous effect weapons of the Scalosians…the knock out wristband in the Spock’s Brain ep. Nth Degree Barclay would have perfect for them btw. The Kelvin reducer. The worst weapon was used by the near ascended species…maybe near Cytherian tech…in Transfigurations. The one where people started to choke. That was worse than Tantalus…
