teacake does Stargate: punch it

My favourite part of Moebius Part 1 was Alternate Daniel teaching the English class.

Daniel: "Start by introducing yourself and talking about the weather."
Latino Guy: "Hello, my name is Carlos. You make me so hot."

Moebius is a horrid, HORRID episode!

In the episode 1969 Sam didn't want anyone doing anything that would wreck the timeline and all this shit.

Yet here comes Moebius and Sam is like "Hell yeah! Let's go back in time! Who the fuck cares?! No one will notice little old us! Fuck the timeline!"

It's just a lame story setup so we can get a bunch of one off jokes. At least part two has an awesome ending.

No, actually she was against going back and relunctantly admitted that the ZPM going missing probably wouldn't have any significant impact on history. And even once they were in the past, she was still nagging about the timeline and wouldn't allow the team to fight their way to the puddle jumper, for fear of what it would do to the timeline.

Trash Moebius if you like, you're certainly entitled to your opinion and the point of these threads is to discuss our varying points of view. However, one should have their facts straight, and Carter's attitude in this episode certainly was not "fuck the timeline."

Season 4 Carter would have never have allowed the mission to happen in the first place.

She wouldn't go "I guess no one would know", she would have fought more against it.

1969 happened by mistake, she had no say and still nagged 10 times more than she did in Moebius, which they decided to go back. I just don't believe it. I could lighten up on the episode a little bit if it wasn't just a set up for a lame story and one liners.

But like I said at least the ending is awesome, so we have that.

Moebius Part 2: Eh this got kind of .. rambling and odd. People's instant willingness to screw with and/or erase their existence when presented with a "fact" that the timeline was changed is always hard to swallow. Sure these people were shown a more exciting existence but it's not like they were going to experience it. I mean really if someone showed up and told you that you could be this fabulous person and have a much better life than you have now if you fix the timeline but oh btw you personally won't experience this how many people would be jumping up and down begging to do it?

And Cardigan Carter wants to destroy the ship and just live out her life in the tech free shit hole that is ancient egypt, she can't even get a little luxury going by inventing stuff. Right. Well I'd rather believe she and O'Neill used went somewhere nice while they had a ride.

Good to see the always fated Kawalsky.

As to going back to get the ZPM in the first place, it was a stretch. Sure Ra didn't know what it was but to march into Ra-land and grab the thing and make no impression on anyone at all is a bit ludicrous.

I thought Part 1 was an all round better episode.

Citizen Joe: Dear rest of tv.. now THAT'S how you do a clip show. What a hilarious, self deprecating, twisty amusing little episode. Adorable. I loved it. Commentary on Stargate's own foibles from the dudes in the Barber shop. And..

CHARLENE: Don't get me wrong -- it was exciting. It's just that personally I like stories that are more about inter-personal relations, and a little less to do with things blowing up.

Hi-Larious.

It brings an extra level of funny when you realize that Joe is played by the voice of Homer Simpson.

WOW!!!!! Thanks for telling me this that is fabulous!!

Teacake: are you going to keep going through seasons 9 and 10 with your reviews? With the intro of Mitchell as the leader of SG1 instead of O'Neill and the Ori arc, seasons 9 and 10 are different than previous seasons. I still enjoy them a lot but in some ways, they almost feel a spin off series to SG1.

There's a moment when he's frantically digging through the trash when you can really tell.

I'm continuing and hopefully SPOILER FREE. I did not know O'Neill was replaced, please don't tell me this stuff!!

Sorry, I assumed you knew about the Mitchell character. I do look forward to reading your thoughts on seasons 9 and 10 compared to the previous seasons.

Even with shows that have been off the air for a few years, you should never assume that the reviewer knows what's coming. A lot of people just get caught up in the excitement of discussing a show and sometimes forget that the person who created the thread might be watching these episodes for the first time.

I think they knew I was watching it for the first time since they explained to me why what was coming up was different.

This has been a good thread for not too many spoilers though, most people have been very careful.

Yeah, it would have sucked if someone had told you that O'Neill and Carter's love child from an alternate timeline turns out to be the leader of the new SG-1 team.

Oops...

Should we spoil the part where they kill off Teal'c but replace him with his Quantum Mirror duplicate (with an Evil Beard)?

Yes, they could! That's the fun part! Including the one where Thor becomes a member of SG-1 while Carter goes off to study on the Asgard homeworld. Don't worry, it only lasts a season.

Why do you think the show got canceled? Thor was a horrible replacement, the audience just didn't connect. Then Sam gets shipped off to Atlantis to have Lemonhead's baby.

And Teal'c was already replaced with evil Teal'c. Where do you think the hair came from... ;)

Avalon Pt 1: People of hottness are bound together by alien tech! BWAHA crossovers! The walls are closing in!! Shut down ALL the garbage mashers on the detention level!

Browder seems okay. Probably would have been the Post of Utter Shock and Horror if I hadn't been spoiled as to the season 9 change.
