Taylor Swift ,star trek 2009 CMT Awards Opening

She's a pretty good actress! And in the rap sequence, she looks just like my daughter when she's acting all "street"!

I'm sorry, I have no idea who Taylor Swift is. Should I google it or am I wasting my time?

At any rate, her Vulcan impersonation made me LOL.

She is the most popular artist in the US. Her albums sold four million copies in 2008.

By the way, I didn´t know her either. Country music isn´t very popular in Sweden. But I liked her a lot. She seems much more healthy than Spears and Hilton.

Ah, that would explain. Like you said, here in Europe country music isn't all that popular. But yes, any artist who is willing to make fun of herself in front of the camera is probably heaps better than Paris Hilton.

Depending where you're from here in the states will determine if you like country music or not. It's a demographic thing...of course there are exceptions. I don't care for country music that much but I love some Pasty Cline.

Well, Paris did make fun of herself in that one video with that guy who's name I don't remember... Oh yeah, Rick Solomon.

@ Cakes488: Thanks for the cultural insight. :)

@ msbae: it's probably a good thing I didn't remember about that masterpiece of cinematography. :p

That was great. Even though I don't really care for country music, I must admit that I've always found Miss Swift to be very attractive... I think I might actually love her now. ;)

Like all stereotypes, there is a little truth and a little fiction in this. In Nashville, you'll find as many people who hate country music and love rap as you will the reverse, with most people comfortably in between. I've met other southerners/midwesterners who had less love for country music than many I've met from the east or west coast.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean that as a blanket statement...there are exceptions...but on the whole on the average.... if you live in a rural area chances are country is big there and if you're in the city chances are that it's more of a diverse music taste. I'm in NYC and of course there are plenty of people here who like country music...that would be statistically impossible...but on the whole most do not. I'm trying to think if there is even a country music station here..there must be...right?????

You'd be shocked by how big CM is in NYC. They didn't hold the CMAs one year there for the cheap rates. ;)

I grew up in a rural area of Tennessee surrounded by rednecks and nuclear physicists (which is actually more common than you'd think). Country music was played about as often as anything else, and I couldn't stand it (outside of the occasional song). I didn't learn to like it until I went to Nashville, and rebelled against the "you must be tolerant or intolerant according to our wishes" crowd. Came back home and found more people listening to rap than country. Ah, well.

It's really not that different. With rap and country fans, they still can't seem to wear their pants fully up.
