Taylor Swift Is Racist!

One could argue for the right of everybody to make fun of each other regardless of race. And I definitely see if Swift's video made fun of exclusively white genres it would have been decried as racist for not including any majority black genres.

As for 'Appropriating culture', I'm reminded of a Public Enemy lyric:
'Black man, black woman, black baby
White man, white woman, white baby
White man, black woman, black baby
Black man, white woman, black baby'

Music combines influence from a white genre and a black genre, it's appropriating black music. You would never accuse Jimi Hendrix or the three black members of TV On The Radio of 'Appropriating white music', because in that context it's more clear how silly it is.

One of the things keeping us from addressing real race issues like income inequality, housing inequality, racial profiling, police brutality, justice inequality, and employment inequality is that every time some random celebrity does something idiotic and race adjacent people immediately jump on it and elevate it to the same level, and this weakens the saliency of more serious race issues.

I've been thinking 'bout that.

The many shades of brown African (American?) babies can come out of their mothers depending on how dilute their ethnic purity is... Wow. Is this 1974? Where the fuck did "ethnic purity" come from?

But I was wanting to talk about the Cosby Show.

The Cosby kids are all over the fricking pigment spectrum (I have to google to see how racist that is? 6 and a half million results but the first page is all about about light and science, so the next 1 million pages are too probably.)

1. Claire was stepping out on Cliff a lot.

2. Cliff stole babies from the hospital.

Quote from Defiance last week...

"Kids don't listen to REM any more, no respect for the classics."

Sisters or half sisters?

Key parties.

For any of us who were born in the 1970s, falling for the girl nextdoor is not recommended.

:)

Recessive genes from the grandparents and further back, can randomly come into, or not come into play during conception, which would explain slight graduations in colour between siblings.

But if Claire was sleeping around, I don't know how she would explain how one of her babies had red hair to her husband and his medical degree?

On the other hand

"Please Claire, all my nurses keep giving me back my illegitimate bastards. I just assumed that they would disappear after I had finished, but it's almost like they're unionized with how quickly I end up swaddling these... Please don't leave me."

I had a friend, who was finally told on his 21st birthday that who had always been told was his older sister, had always in truth been his biological mother.

Family.

Always good for a laugh.

I think I saw that movie.

None of my siblings have the same skin tone that I do. Nor do their skin tones match either other. Genetics is a little more complex than you might think.

Remember in my defence that Cliff or Bill, it's almost a certainty that neither of them fathered any of the actors playing those children... Although if during casting an actor or actress had been disqualified for being the the wrong shade of brown, some Momager was going to sue Cosby until he bled out.

Keshia and Tempestt played sisters again for a couple episodes in Tempestt's short lived sitcom Guys with Kids. (IMDB is wrong.)

What really took me out of the moment is when Sabrina turned up on the bridge of Picard's Enterprise in Gambit because I thought that she was a big time Cosby kid going somewhere, but she took a job as wallpaper to make the rent. The illusion of fame y'know?

Casting families for TV shows is always a bit hit or miss.

Take the show Parenthood.

Dax Shepard, Peter Krauss and Lauren Graham look like they might be siblings. Erika Christensen, not so much. But none them look like the offspring of Craig T Nelson and Bonnie Bedelia.

Mae Whitman looks enough like Lauren Graham to be her daughter. Miles Heizer doesn't look like he could be Lauren's son or Mae's brother.

Sarah Ramos does look like the child of Peter Krauss and Monica Potter. Max Burkholder, not so much.

I watched the pilot of Parenthoood.

That was enough.

Although, if Kristen Bell is allowing Dax Shepherd to put babies in her, maybe maybe there's more to him than being a poor man's Dane Cook? (I am entirely unfond of Dane Cook.)

Just because you can appreciate something doesn't mean it's yours.

If you're going to say there is no black music or white music do you also say there is n Celtic music or Indian music? What's the point of denying people ownership? It's not like their ownership stops you in any way from appreciating the music and recognizing it as having universal meaning and appeal. And I don't mean copyright when I'm talking about ownership.
